Wow - great list above ... may I ask what you thought of Everyone Knows Your Mother Is a Witch by Rivka Galchen? It's been waved under my nose previously, and it's hard not to notice that title!

>I thought that Everyone Knows Yours Mother Is a Witch was a really entertaining and atmospheric historical fiction. It used a truly unique means of portraying the trials and tribulations of an elderly widow and her renowned family as they fought ludicrous charges of witchcraft in 17th century Germany.

Is it possible to own a book that is too beautiful to read?
My Waterstones' edition of The Cloisters by Katy Hays arrived today and left me breathless.
