Philip Pullman was born in Norwich on October 19, 1946. He graduated from Oxford University with a degree in English. He taught at various Oxford middle schools and at Westminster College for eight years. He is the author of many acclaimed novels, plays, and picture books for readers of all ages. mostra altro His first book, Count Karlstein, was published in 1982. His other books include: The Firework-Maker's Daughter; I Was a Rat!; Clockwork or All Wound Up; and The Good Man Jesus and the Scoundrel Christ. He is also the author of the Sally Lockhart series and the His Dark Materials Trilogy. He is the author of The Book of Dust, volume 1. He has received numerous awards including the Carnegie Medal and the Guardian Fiction Award for Northern Lights (The Golden Compass), the Whitbread Book of the Year Award for The Amber Spyglass, the Eleanor Farjeon Award for children's literature in 2002, and the Astrid Lindgren Award in 2005. Perfetta conclusione per una trilogia fantasy profonda e non scontata, tutte le spiegazioni al posto giusto chiudono un cerchio iniziato con la prima pagina della "Bussola d'oro".

La lama sottile di Philip Pullman

Seguito di "La bussola d'oro", è bello ed entusiasmante esattamente quanto il primo. Il viaggio di Lyra continua con un compagno di avventure, e attraverso di loro si può approfondire anche il tema dell'amicizia, oltre che quello delle malattie mentali e dell'amore materno anche nei suoi risvolti più scuri.

La bussola d'oro di Philip Pullman

Uno dei miei libri preferiti, adatto anche a giovani lettori, ha però diversi strati, alcuni dei quali solo in età adulta possono essere compresi fino in fondo. Amo come il fantasy diventi un mezzo per parlare di temi profondi, come l'amore, la religione, il peccato e la spiritualità. Da leggere assolutamente

The Scarecrow and His Servant di Philip Pullman

Per chi è abituato ad associare al nome di Philip Pullman i temi della trilogia delle Oscure Materie, quindi i temi sul libero arbitrio e sulla religione, questo libro sarà probabilmente una delusione. Questa non è altro che una semplice favola per ragazzini, e in effetti è stato dato da leggere (in italiano!) a mio figlio in prima media. Il dipanarsi delle avventure dello spaventapasseri e del suo servitore Jack che devono riuscire a sfuggire alle grinfie della famiglia Buffaloni - curiosamente la favola sembra ambientata in Italia, o almeno i nomi sono quasi tutti più o meno italiani - è piuttosto standard. Ci sono alcuni punti, come la carriera dello spaventapasseri nell'esercito, che si sa già come andranno a finire: altri punti, come Jack che traduce dall'Uccellese allo Spaventapasserese, che invece mi hanno fatto davvero divertire.

In definitiva, un testo piacevole da leggere ma nulla di trascendentale.… (altro)
