If you are looking for a fun and steamy adult read, you should check out Lucy Score’s Riley Thorn series!

The Corpse in the Closet, book two, introduces us to Riley’s intimidating grandmother, Elanora, and sees Santiago Investigations moving their office into the mansion (due to a fire in book one) where Riley and all her elderly cohorts live. And now Nick, Riley’s boyfriend, lives there too, which makes the commute fantastic.

With Gabe, Riley’s psychic mentor’s help and lots of hard love from her Grandmother, Riley learns to control her powers a bit more while helping Nick and his ex-partner, Detective Weber, try to figure out the latest cases, which of course, involves murders and lots of hilarious moments.

The book ends with a shocking statement from Riley’s Grandmother that leads perfectly into book three, The Blast from the Past.

The Blast from the Past by Lucy Score picks up right where book two left off, with Riley’s Grandmother’s shocking reveal that Beth Weber, Detective Weber’s sister, who had been missing and presumed dead for the past six years, was still alive. This sends Nick, Riley’s boyfriend into an obsessive search that has him focusing on nothing else… including Riley, the investigative business, and the new mansion that Nick and Riley moved into because of events from book two, The Corpse in the Closet.

If after reading that paragraph, you are like, Whoa! Yup, each book is filled with so much craziness and amusing moments, along with adult steamy times, that I highly recommend this series. Especially if you are a fan of Janet Evanovich.

Riley starts getting weird visions and craving sesame everything (nope, not pregnant!). When she finally figures out why, the story, which had already been wild, takes it up another notch.

Riley, Brian and Josie (members of Santiago Investigations) and the elderly crew all begin separate investigations to make up for the money that Nick lost them over the months of only focusing on Beth and not the business. While they are all wacky, the one that really amused me was the juvenile delinquent, Kory. And the good karma that comes from Riley handling it, helps towards the end when she’s in trouble, and I am sure will come around again in a future book… which I’m looking forward to.

Yea, if it sounds like I’m a bit unhinged, and you’re like, What!.... If you enjoy zany characters and storylines all wrapped around a mystery, you need to check out the Riley Thorn series by Lucy Score.

The Body in the Backyard, book four in the Riley What Is Her Middle Name Thorn by Lucy Score, continues right where book three left off, this time really delving into Riley’s ex-husband, Griffin Gentry, because he throws himself at Riley’s feet and begs her to help him since someone is trying to kill him.

Nick, Riley’s boyfriend, wants nothing to do with the case and makes it well known throughout the book how much he disdains Griffin. And I have to side with Nick on this one, Griffin is a horrible, entitled person who really has no redeeming qualities… but it makes for lots of eye-rolling and amusing moments throughout the book.

We also get more page time with Bella Goodshine, Griffin’s fiance, and the woman Riley found him cheating on her with. She has been vapid throughout the previous books, and this one too, but I’m starting to see a bit more of an interesting character in her, and I really like that. And when Nick’s mom helps to adjust Bella’s meds, you get a glimpse of how devious she may turn out to be, which I’m excited to read about in future books.

There are so many amusing moments throughout the book with Riley’s elderly roommates (who end up living in the new mansion with her and Nick!), Riley and Nick’s families, and various other zany characters. I think one of my favorite scenes though was when Nick and Riley took their four nieces out for a fun evening, the kids really made that scene. Really, who am I trying to kid, there are too many funny moments to pick just one!

If you enjoy crazy stories with lots of laughs and adult steaminess, then you should start the Riley Thorn series right away!!!

After finding herself addicted to the adrenaline of being a trauma surgeon and on her way to burning out, Mackenzie O'Neil decides it's time to break the cycle and find a temporary job that slows down her life. Taking over for a local doctor in Benevolence that is taking a sabbatical, seems like the perfect opportunity. On her first day, Mack meets local fire chief, Lncoln Reed, in the middle of an heroic rescue. Their attraction to one another is evident, but can a playboy and a woman who can't stand the thought of permanence, make a relationship work?

Protecting What's Mine is the final book in the Benevolence series and a very enjoyable contemporary romance. Mack and Linc are likable characters and a cute golden retriever named Sunshine adds a lot as a supporting player. Also, other characters from the first two books in the series appear, bringing their storylines to a close. There is a bit of suspense near the end, but rather than involving characters that are part of plot, these events are drawn from Mack's backstory, leaving a feeling of disconnect. However, overall, Protecting What's Mine is an entertaining read that is light on plot but filled with engaging characters and fun events.
