La mia biblioteca
I use LibraryThing to record what I've read (but not what I have in my bookshelf or wishlist). Everything I've read – from cover to cover – since joining the site is here, plus everything I can recall having read before that, except non-classic children's and YA books.

I read anything that catches my attention but tend to like literary fiction the most. And I have a squishy-soft spot for personal development books. Some of my favourite themes in fiction are nostalgia, reforming oneself, succeeding against all odds and ordinary heroes. Why I like to read has been put into words perfectly in The History Boys by Alan Bennett:

The best moments in reading are when you come across something – a thought, a feeling, a way of looking at things – which you had thought special and particular to you. Now here it is, set down by someone else, a person you have never met, someone even who is long dead. And it is as if a hand has come out and taken yours.
