This story continues with Bantling in prison, CJ still having nightmares, & she and Dom are engaged to be married. A horrific murder of a police officer turns into more than it seems as more are being killed by someone giving the term "cop killer" a new meaning. It could be drug related with the evidence gathered but CJ knows better. Everyone involved in Bantling's arrest are showing up murdered. CJ and Dom come to blows over the investigation and there is more afoot. This book was OK but there was too much regurgitation of the first book and pages of acronyms for state police agencies that didn't need to be explained along with too much description of how the agencies are housed. I started skimming over a lot of that because it was never relevant in this book. The book ends with a king of shock that sets up for another book… (altro)
Fast paced thrilling first book in series. CJ has a brutal past that comes back to haunt her in the biggest case of her career. Prosecuting a rapist who's accused of murder. Zero forensic evidence to tie him to the crimes except for the dead body found in his car has CJ & the police trying to gather data and evidence to take to court. The suspect is quite familiar to CJ and she may or may not be willing to do anything to get him behind bars whether he's guilty of the murder or not. How far will one person go to seek justice? Things aren't quite adding up and the game of cat and mouse begins.… (altro)
One of the best crime thrillers I have ever read. The story line is excellent and very effectively written. No spoilers here. Nothing I say about the story line beyond what might be in descriptions on the book jacket or online would I consider “innocent” in spoiling the reading process. Suffice to say that I really did not want to put the book down, as the author effectively keeps you engaged throughout. Highly recommended. I look forward to reading additional materials by the author.
