This charming old story, first published in 1935, is extremely appealing despite being dated. John and Anna, on an extended trip to Europe with their self-absorbed mother, slip the bonds of their privileged existence and embark alone on an adventure that takes them from Paris to Monte Carlo. They adopt a dog, encounter life among the fishermen, discover mouth-watering Bouilliabaisse, and acquire a piece of famous fine art. Their discoveries and independence earn newfound respect from their mother when they are re-united with her. Though the story is a predictable fantasy it still convincingly conveys the thrill of independence and discovery and paints a descriptive picture of the old-time French riviera that leaves you almost smelling the salt air and the delicious Bouilliabaisse.… (altro)
