I thought this book had a really unique concept and I was excited to read it. Sadly it fell really flat for me. Nothing really happens for the first half of the book and it really dragged on in my opinion. Finally halfway through something happened that got me interested to see how things were going to play out, but shortly after that we find out how Clementines aunt passed away and that gave a real heaviness to the whole rest of the book. There was so much about Clementine grieving which is totally understandable given what she's been through I just wasn't expecting such a heavy book.
I was also really annoyed when we find out that James was actually Vera's son. I thought it was way too much of a "let's wrap things all up nicely" gimmick. It was really unnecessary for him to have been connected to Vera and I don't think that it added anything to the story.
This story had so much potential but for me it was disappointing.
Content: approx 30 uses of the F word, 10 uses of blasphemy, approx 25 uses of other swear words. Two same gender couples. Two open door sex scenes.… (altro)
