Buck's wolf side is calling him to the wild, because he feels he is at home when he finds a wolf to run with in the night. After that Buck stays by John his sled his master, but two nights pass and Buck can't help himself so he leaves and runs back into the forest. While following the trail of the yeehats he is stabbed in the chest by a spear. The yeehats now tell a story about how a ghost wolf runs enfront of every wolf pack and leads them with no fear. This ghost is Buck and how big and strong he was to the wolves. This story reminds of the Native Americans and how they their stories, by using examples of animals for symbolism.
