Mentions of Richard III pop up in all sorts of books, fiction and nonfiction, that have nothing to do with the 15th century or the Wars of the Roses. If you have found any, please post them here.

Quest Crosstime by Andre Norton deals with alternate worlds. In a brief survey of key events that had created alternate world E625, she mentions that in 1485 Richard's "courageous charge at his enemy during the Battle of Bosworth had carried him to the Lancastrian Pretender and, with his own hand, Richard had put an end to the Red Rose for all time."

"The brilliance that . . . had marked the reign of Elizabeth Tudor, had in E625 flourished a generation earlier, under Richard and his immediate successors."

R. F. Delderfield's novel God Is An Englishman is set in 19th century England. The protagonist becomes involved in a 2-page discussion of Richard III while traveling in Yorkshire.

"The last king we had. The last real king, that is. Richard, the one libeled by that liar Shakespeare...."

Mystery writer Rex Stout wrote the In Memoriam notice for Richard III which was placed in the NY Times by the Richard III Society on 22 Aug 1970.

In his Nero Wolfe novel Death of a Doxy Archie Goodwn mentions that Wolfe had investigated the murder of the Princes, and had removed More's Utopia from his library because More had framed Richard III.
