Hi,
I know that your first book caused a lot of turmoil in your life - getting put on a hit list for example. I was just wondering if you are still living with the fear of this?? Even if it was recalled, so to say, there are undoubtedly fanatics out there. How is your life today? Do you ever regret writing this book?

If you mean The Satanic Verses, that was his fourth novel, and fifth book, not his first.

Several recent attempts have been made to compose a list of "must-read novels," and one or more of your works frequently appears in these lists (especially Midnight's Children and The Satanic Verses). Do you think such a list has any meaning, and are you honoured by your inclusion?

What are your feelings about books beginning to move to an electronic medium, from your author's perspective and as a reader yourself? Have you embraced the new technology?
