Fate, Time, and Language: An Essay on Free Will will be released on Dec. 14th:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0231151578/ref=pe_5050_17784020_snp_dp
Anybody already read it? Not sure where it was originally published (assuming it was).

Fate, Time, and Language was his undergraduate dissertation for his philosphy degree. It is reviewed here. It is about necessity, but apparently it is not the last word. I would like to see his bibliography although that may be dated.

The Pale King is almost here. Last I heard publication would be in April. I'll be setting aside whatever reading I'm engaged with once The Pale King is released.
Would anyone else hereabouts (I know you mentioned wanting to jump on it right away, sutpen, and I can't imagine that pyro would not be all reading it the very day of its release) be interested in an impromptu group read of it once it hits the shelves? I'm on board. I'm beginning to feel some excitement just thinking about a "new book" from DFW. Even incomplete, I don't care. I'll take whatever I can get from the genius.

Ugh, would that mean buying an unnecessarily huge hardcover?
8absurdeist
Well, it won't be huge even if it is released in hc. My understanding is that its no more than 400 pages tops, if that.

I don't buy hardcovers on principle. I think they should be banned, phased out whatever. Awful, stupid things.
Except the everyman classics, of course.
