Classic comic books, Landmark YA histories & the old ACE fantasy/scifi volumes got me started...now it's mostly military history with strong sections of related historical fiction or military science fiction/fantasy along with some hard-boiled detectives and Scandinavian police procedurals. Of course, I've got the obligatory DUNE & Patrick O'Brians. Along with the Peninsular War, the Southern Campaigns of the American Revolution, the American Civil War, & WWII; I do have some particular collection interests: Robert Frederick's First Special Service Force, Merrill's Marauders, German surface raiders of WWI & WWII (Wolf & Atlantis etc), military staff officers (Berthier, Sorrel, B.Smith, Thiebault), the Civil War in the Southwest (Glorieta!) and the Late Roman/Dark Ages period (Aetius, Alaric, Stilicho & Arthur).

So many books, so little time...

Informazione su di me
"Life is simple...read books, drink coffee, be happy."
I'm a transplanted Mississippian living in California, with my wife. Trained as a military historian I retired after forty years in the Department of Defense. Along with my interest in military history I'm also a wargamer in the historical miniatures world. My wife, now happily retired, and I, have been fortunate enough to travel the world, seeing the sights from Japan to Slovenia on the lookout for bookstores, battlefields, B&B's and the odd jewelry store. Alesia, Waterloo, Gettysburg, Glorieta Pass, Omaha Beach, Bastogne and Fort Ticonderoga are a few of our stops. I'm ex-Army. We're both MAC users.
