This is the first cozy mystery that I have read in a very long time. It was really good. I liked the characters and the cute little town. Morty is too perfect. I don't read about psychics but this was really cool. I can't wait to see what Sunny and Mitch do in the next book.

I overestimated the quality of this book. Having recently finished [b:Tea with the Black Dragon|435415|Tea with the Black Dragon (Black Dragon, #1)|R.A. MacAvoy|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1347649483s/435415.jpg|1261690] I was expecting something similarly well written, with the same amount of mystery. Boy, was this novel predictable. I had the whole thing pegged out by 1/3 of the way through. It was not worth the time (as little as it may have been) it took me to read it.

I loved the cat element. The main character could have been much stronger. By that I mean both as a character element in the novel as well as in the way an independent female should be these days. I will not be reading any sequels, though for what it was it did what it should have.

Too cute, too "cozy", not real enough.... Either you are going to write a plausible Tarot mystery or you're going to write some fluffy p.o.j....

This is a p.o..j, no thought required what-so-ever.

It is an exceptionally poor take off on the Blackwell, Laurie, Blair & Damsgaard Books.....

Give-It-Up!

This was a great beginning to a new series by the author. I enjoyed the story very much and look forward to reading about the other two sisters and how they decide to manage their new lives with siblings and a father they just met in the upcoming books. ARC received for an honest review.

I thoroughly enjoyed this entertaining and fun debut book by Ms. Townsend. Sunny and Mitch kept me laughing and Morty was completely adorable! Looking forward to the next book in this fun series.

The first book in this series I thought was amusing, if a bit silly even for a cozy but I enjoyed it enough to order the second one on it's release. What an enjoyable improvement! The characters, while maintaining their humour and their spark, all got a bit deeper and more rounded. The interaction between the characters, while sometimes verging on silly, was much more realistic and interesting. The plot was excellent, even though I guessed the murderer immediately. Lots of twists and turns, lots of red herrings. I enjoyed the journey, even if the ending wasn't a total surprise. While the story starts off with the clairvoyance playing a prominent part, it's hardly mentioned again until the very end of the story - I would have like to have seen it play a more balanced part of the story. I was also disappointed that we got no further clues about Morty and the haunting of Sunny's house. But I have something to look forward to for the next book. Overall, a very fun read.

This series improves with each book, and Trouble in the Tarot was a really fun read! I wanted to yell at both the old ladies for acting like children, but mostly, I just giggled. Morty is really staring to come into his own and Sunny's character has matured enough to cheer her on. (Although I gotta say - the Monster Truck Rally scene? Big Mistake - waaay too over the top and TSTL.)

The plot was really well done - lot's of suspects, lots of red herrings and more than one mystery to solve. Little plot twist at the end too, though it didn't really affect the outcome. I didn't find this book predictable at all and it had a nice quick pace that didn't dwell or rely on internal dialogue or introspection for too long at any one time.

The ending of the book was fun too - left a smile on my face - and I'm looking forward to the next book.

Interesting first novel. Very likeable characters (except the parents, but they aren't truly nasty) and great setting. The plot line was a bit far-fetched with the police ordering a suspect to work with the detective, but it made for a very interesting story. I'll definitely read the next book in the series. Love the cat too...

In Townsend’s paranormal novel, Sunny’s fortune telling business is thriving and Detective Mitch Stone has finally agreed to their first date. When Sunny reads Fiona Atwater’s cards, she’s shocked to see in the vision her Granny and Fiona at odds. When the vision begins to ring true and Fiona and her Granny begin to bicker all over town, things come to a head when they are both accused of murder. With Mitch on the case, Sunny is forced to work behind his back to prove both women’s innocence.

A fast-paced whodunit that compliments the A Fortune Teller Mystery series.

Sunny Meadows (aka Sylvia Eleanor Meadows) waited until she was 29 years old to break from her rich and status minded parents. She changed her name, moved to Divinity, bought a Victoria house (aka Vicky) a house thought to be haunted by the town.

Tempest in the Tea Leaves starts off the Fortune Teller series with a cat that looks more like an over grown rat. Sunny names him Morty and can't see why people seem to be afraid of him. He does behave oddly and has apparently lived in the house while it was on the market, maybe for years. Kari Lee Townsend know how to write a great cozy. She makes it difficult to figure out who the killer is until the end. She also incorporates humor (I dare you not to laugh out loud) and quirky characters.

Amanda Robbins is the first customer to Sunny Meadow's "Sunny's Sanctuary" where Sunny tells people's fortune. Sunny's favorite method is reading tea leaves. I paid careful attention to her procedure as my grandmother also read tea leaves and predicted several airplane crashes.
Amanda's fortune is disturbing, she has a serious medical problem and tea leaves also show that there is someone out to kill her!

I highly recommend this cozy! There is a romantic interest with a difficult man, a great mystery and tea leaves. Perfect!

This the first book in the A Fortune Teller Mystery series from Townsend.

I really enjoyed this book. I love to be told a story and this book told a great story. There were a couple things that I thought were stretching a point, but overall they worked in very well and contributed to the overall story>

Sunny has left the Big Apple to start her life in the small town of Divinity, NY. She has purchased an old Victorian home, that could be haunted, and plans to set up a business as a psychic. The house hasn't been open for some time and the first thing Sunny finds is a white cat. The cat seems to be able to go from room to room faster than Sunny!!!

Sunny's first client is the towns libraian and she choose to read her tea leaves. Sunny is right on with her reading and tell the librarian that she sees that someone is going to kill her. Within an hour of leaving the her reading the librarian is found dead. It is determined that the tea she drank was laced with digoxin. And she got the tea leaves from.

Soon Detective Stone (Grumpy Pants) and Sunny(Tink) are put together as partners/assistant to find the killer. For me, this unlikely duo provided a good deal of the entertainment in this book. Needless to say neither one was really enjoying working together on this case.

I'm looking forward to the next book to see how Stone and Sunny will interact. And am looking forward to learning more about Morty the white cat.

Corpse In The Crystal Ball is the second book in the Fortune Teller Mystery series bi Kari Lee Townsend.

As Sunny and Jo pull into Sunny's drive they notice that Kevin Brown, the mailman, talking with an elderly woman. Sunny soon realizes that the woman is her Grandma Gertrude. Grandma Gert has shown up unannounced and Sunny is sure her parents have sent her to keep Sunny out of trouble.

While Grandma Gert is trying to fix things up between the handsome Kevin, Sunny thoughts are more along the lines of the detective, Mitch. But when Sunny learns that Mitch's ex-girlfriend is in town and has vowed to make patch things up, Sunny develops second thoughts. when Isabel, the ex, wants Sunny to do a reading she is a little apprehensive. In the reading Sunny sees that Isabel could be in extreme danger. A couple days later Sunny sees who she thinks is Isabel, but turns out to be Selena, Isabel twin, with Mitch. Selena lets them know that Isabel is missing. Sunny then arranges a reading for police Captain Walker. Sunny "sees" where Isabel's car has been chased and going off the road and crashing. They head to area that Sunny saw the car traveling and after awhile they find Isabel's dead body. There is also a message written in the dirt that looks like she is accusing Mitch for her death.

Captain Walker asks for Mitch's gun and badge and asks for Sunny to use her abilities to solve the murder. Of course this doesn't sit well with Mitch. Times are tough for Sunny, as she is trying to work out her differences with Mitch, personally, and trying to keep Mitch from involving himself with the investigation.

What I really loved about this book is the introduction of Grandma Gert. Grandma's excuse for coming unannounced is that her home has suffered water damage and see needs a place to live. She is quite the baker and is intent on fixing sunny up with the mailman and herself with Captain Walker. Then she also wants to learn to drive and her driving skills can best be described as none.

Looking forward to the next book to see where Sunny's love life heads and hoping that Grandma's house hasn't been repaired yet.

Trouble In The Tarot is the third book in the A Fortune Teller Mystery.

GO, Granny, GO!!!!!!!!!!!

Things are looking up for Sunny Meadows. She loves Divinity, New York, her fortune telling business is doing well, romance might be around the corner, her Granny Gertie has moved in and Granny has her drivers license. Okay four out of five isn't bad.

The annual Summer Solstice Carnival is about to get underway and Sunny has been talked in to reading her tarot cards at the festival. Proceeds from the carnival will be going to Ozzie Zukerman's Animal Angels, an animal rescue. Quincy Turner had hoped that the proceeds would go his Parks and Rec program. As things get started it seems that someone is trying to sabotage the festival, quite naturally Ozzie and Quincy are at odds.

Sunny first customer is Fiona Atwater, who's group The Knitting Nana's have decided to vacation in Divinity. As she is doing the reading, Sunny sees Fiona in an argument with another lady. Sunny can't hear what is being said, but it is very heated. Fiona it turns out is an old nemesis of Granny's. Now the race is on to see who can outdo the other. Since both Granny and Fiona are wonderful bakers they are looking forward to the grand finale of the festival, the bake off. But before that happens, Bernadette Baldwin, owner of BB's Baked Goods, is found dead. She has been apparently run over by Granny's Cadillac. With Granny and Fiona's baked goods found in the car and their desire to win the bake off, they are arrested for the murder of Bernadette.

Now it is good news, bad news time. The good is that Granny and Fiona are released from jail. The bad news is that they are on home detention with ankle bracelets. To keep her sanity, Sunny must really now get busy trying to find the killer. Things aren't progressing as Sunny had hoped with her hunk, Detective Mitch Stone, so it is helpful to have something to keep her mind occupied.

I really enjoyed the first book, but with the addition of Granny Gertie in book two, she made it even better.

Looking forward to the next book and hopefully more Granny escapades.

The fabulous and fun A Fortune Teller Mystery series continues with TROUBLE IN THE TAROT, and it's my favorite one so far. This time around, Sunny's grandmother finds herself in a whole lot of trouble. First, Granny Gert's lifelong enemy Fiona comes to town wanting to outdo her in the Summer Solstice Carnival bake-off. Then they're arrested for murder when the local baker is hit and killed by Granny's huge Cadillac, and both ladies are found at the scene of the crime.

Fiona and Granny are put under house arrest after evidence against them surfaces. Unfortunately for poor Sunny, the house arrest will take place in her house! She's helped with police investigations in the past, but this time her boyfriend Detective Mitch Stone wants her to stay out of it. Though, with Fiona and Granny's bickering enough to drive her crazy, Sunny is determined to clear their names, even if it means going behind Mitch's back to do so.

The mystery in this book was tricky - did not see the ending coming at all! There were several possible suspects who might have wanted Bernadette the baker out of the picture. Secrets, blackmail and bakery business make for a deadly combination in Divinity, New York! I loved how Sunny used her smarts and fortune telling gifts to solve the case.

TROUBLE IN THE TAROT was an enjoyable cozy mystery filled with suspense and humor. I had to snicker at Fiona and Granny Gert as they flirted with the men in town and constantly tried to outdo each other. Morty the mysterious magical cat takes center stage several times too. Love him! I'm hoping the next book comes out soon. 4½-stars!

Psychic Sunny Meadows is settling into her new home in Divinity, New York. Her grandmother has come to stay for a while, and Sunny suspects her parents sent Granny Gert to keep an eye on her. Even though things are rocky between Sunny and her love interest Detective Mitch Stone, life is good - until Mitch's ex-girlfriend Isabel is murdered not long after arriving in town.

Isabel leaves a message just before her death that points a finger at Mitch for the killing. Even though Mitch is grumpy and brooding (and handsome!), Sunny knows he can't possibly be a murderer. Luckily for Mitch, Sunny and her psychic/sluthing abilities have become valuable to the police department, and once again she's put on the case.

CORPSE IN THE CRYSTAL BALL is a fun cozy mystery with a touch of romance and the paranormal. I enjoyed the mystery in this one and how hard Sunny worked to clear Mitch's name. Readers get to learn more about Mitch's past and why he's such a "Mr. Grumpy Pants." I did have an inkling as to who the culprit was, however the "why" behind the crime had me baffled. The ending was very exciting - loved it!

I'm still waiting to find out more about Morty the mystery cat, one of my favorite characters in the series. There's something special about him, and I'm itching to know his story!

This book was an enchanting follow up to TEMPEST IN THE TEA LEAVES. A Fortune Teller Mystery series has quickly become one of my new favorites. Looking forward to the next!

In Townsend’s mystery novel, Sunny Meadows leaves the Big Apple to settle in Divinity, New York. Determined to make it as a psychic, she purchases an ancient Victorian house and inherits a mysterious white cat in the process. Her first customer is an agitated librarian and when she reads her tea leaves she sees the woman’s demise.

Feeling responsible for notifying the police of her vision, Sunny finds she’s too late. Not only is the librarian dead but Sunny is suspect because of her vision. Detective Mitch Stone is a non-believer and he sets out to identify the culprit, even if it proves to be Sunny. Determined to settle the issue once and for all, Sunny relies on her visions to lead her down the path of justice.

Smart and funny, Sunny Meadows is a great amateur sleuth with special talents. This introduction to the A Fortune Teller Mystery will leave the reader wanting more.

In Townsend’s mystery novel, psychic Sunshine Meadows has been cleared of murder and hoping to finally settle into her new life in Divinity. Down deep, she would like a second chance with Detective Mitch Stone but is unable to after his attractive ex-girlfriend, Isabelle shows up unexpectedly.

When Isabelle turns up missing, the police turn to Sunny for help. Her psychic visions lead them to Isabel’s corpse and to the message she scribbled before dying—a message that implicates Mitch in her demise. Tapping into her clairvoyant abilities, Sunny digs deep in hopes of clearing the name of the man she’s clearly falling in love with.

This addition to the A Fortune Teller Mystery series is fast-paced and hard to put down. I can hardly wait for the next installment.

Tempest in the Tea Leaves is a light and fun cozy mystery with a touch of the paranormal and a hint of romance. This is the first book in Kari Lee Townsend's A Fortune Teller Mystery series. I enjoyed this book!

Fortune teller Sunshine Meadows (aka Sunny) leaves New York City for the small town of Divinity in upstate New York, because she's tired of her high society parents not believing in her or her special gift. Determined to make a new start in Divinity before her trust fund money runs out, she buys an old Victorian house to set up shop, complete with its own mysterious white cat.

Unfortunately for Sunny, things go down hill quickly. Her first customer is the frantic town librarian who wants a reading. After reading her tea leaves, Sunny has a vision of the librarian's murder. Sunny warns the police of her vision, but alas it is too late. The librarian is dead just as she predicted, and Sunny is the prime suspect.

Sunny insists she's innocent - she's new in town and has no motive! Detective Mitch Stone doesn't believe in any of her psychic woo-woo, but he gives her the benefit of the doubt - for now. That will change if and when hard evidence turns up against her, so it's up to Sunny to help the detective find the real killer.

Tempest in the Tea Leaves was a delightful read. Sunny was a likable character with the perfect job for helping to solve a murder, even though it's her fortune telling that got her in trouble in the first place! The author crafted an entertaining mystery that kept me guessing up until the end. There were a few times I thought "that would never really happen with a murder suspect," but I went with it anyway.

The engaging characters pulled me into the story. I had plenty of giggle out loud moments, especially the witty exchanges between Sunny and "grumpy pants" Detective Stone, and Sunny and her snooty parents. Even her mysterious cat Morty was a hoot. He had a personality all his own. I'm so curious about Morty and his (and Sunny's) spooky Victorian house (aka Vicky). I'm looking forward to finding out more about them in future books.

Tempest in the Tea Leaves is a strong start to a new series. I would recommend it to fans of cozy mysteries who like the addition of a paranormal element. I give it 4 out of 5 stars!
