The first book in this series I thought was amusing, if a bit silly even for a cozy but I enjoyed it enough to order the second one on it's release. What an enjoyable improvement! The characters, while maintaining their humour and their spark, all got a bit deeper and more rounded. The interaction between the characters, while sometimes verging on silly, was much more realistic and interesting. The plot was excellent, even though I guessed the murderer immediately. Lots of twists and turns, lots of red herrings. I enjoyed the journey, even if the ending wasn't a total surprise. While the story starts off with the clairvoyance playing a prominent part, it's hardly mentioned again until the very end of the story - I would have like to have seen it play a more balanced part of the story. I was also disappointed that we got no further clues about Morty and the haunting of Sunny's house. But I have something to look forward to for the next book. Overall, a very fun read. ( )

Corpse In The Crystal Ball is the second book in the Fortune Teller Mystery series bi Kari Lee Townsend.

As Sunny and Jo pull into Sunny's drive they notice that Kevin Brown, the mailman, talking with an elderly woman. Sunny soon realizes that the woman is her Grandma Gertrude. Grandma Gert has shown up unannounced and Sunny is sure her parents have sent her to keep Sunny out of trouble.

While Grandma Gert is trying to fix things up between the handsome Kevin, Sunny thoughts are more along the lines of the detective, Mitch. But when Sunny learns that Mitch's ex-girlfriend is in town and has vowed to make patch things up, Sunny develops second thoughts. when Isabel, the ex, wants Sunny to do a reading she is a little apprehensive. In the reading Sunny sees that Isabel could be in extreme danger. A couple days later Sunny sees who she thinks is Isabel, but turns out to be Selena, Isabel twin, with Mitch. Selena lets them know that Isabel is missing. Sunny then arranges a reading for police Captain Walker. Sunny "sees" where Isabel's car has been chased and going off the road and crashing. They head to area that Sunny saw the car traveling and after awhile they find Isabel's dead body. There is also a message written in the dirt that looks like she is accusing Mitch for her death.

Captain Walker asks for Mitch's gun and badge and asks for Sunny to use her abilities to solve the murder. Of course this doesn't sit well with Mitch. Times are tough for Sunny, as she is trying to work out her differences with Mitch, personally, and trying to keep Mitch from involving himself with the investigation.

What I really loved about this book is the introduction of Grandma Gert. Grandma's excuse for coming unannounced is that her home has suffered water damage and see needs a place to live. She is quite the baker and is intent on fixing sunny up with the mailman and herself with Captain Walker. Then she also wants to learn to drive and her driving skills can best be described as none.

Looking forward to the next book to see where Sunny's love life heads and hoping that Grandma's house hasn't been repaired yet. ( )

Psychic Sunny Meadows is settling into her new home in Divinity, New York. Her grandmother has come to stay for a while, and Sunny suspects her parents sent Granny Gert to keep an eye on her. Even though things are rocky between Sunny and her love interest Detective Mitch Stone, life is good - until Mitch's ex-girlfriend Isabel is murdered not long after arriving in town.

Isabel leaves a message just before her death that points a finger at Mitch for the killing. Even though Mitch is grumpy and brooding (and handsome!), Sunny knows he can't possibly be a murderer. Luckily for Mitch, Sunny and her psychic/sluthing abilities have become valuable to the police department, and once again she's put on the case.

CORPSE IN THE CRYSTAL BALL is a fun cozy mystery with a touch of romance and the paranormal. I enjoyed the mystery in this one and how hard Sunny worked to clear Mitch's name. Readers get to learn more about Mitch's past and why he's such a "Mr. Grumpy Pants." I did have an inkling as to who the culprit was, however the "why" behind the crime had me baffled. The ending was very exciting - loved it!

I'm still waiting to find out more about Morty the mystery cat, one of my favorite characters in the series. There's something special about him, and I'm itching to know his story!

This book was an enchanting follow up to TEMPEST IN THE TEA LEAVES. A Fortune Teller Mystery series has quickly become one of my new favorites. Looking forward to the next!

In Townsend’s mystery novel, psychic Sunshine Meadows has been cleared of murder and hoping to finally settle into her new life in Divinity. Down deep, she would like a second chance with Detective Mitch Stone but is unable to after his attractive ex-girlfriend, Isabelle shows up unexpectedly.

When Isabelle turns up missing, the police turn to Sunny for help. Her psychic visions lead them to Isabel’s corpse and to the message she scribbled before dying—a message that implicates Mitch in her demise. Tapping into her clairvoyant abilities, Sunny digs deep in hopes of clearing the name of the man she’s clearly falling in love with.

This addition to the A Fortune Teller Mystery series is fast-paced and hard to put down. I can hardly wait for the next installment. ( )

Kari Lee Townsend has done it again, with her follow-up mystery to Tempest in the Tea Leaves. Her perky but much put-upon fortune-teller Sunny Meadows is in trouble again-- the more she tries to help, the deeper she gets. This time Sunny isn't the suspected murderer, but her wannabe boy-toy Mitch is, so she naturally comes to the rescue, despite misunderstandings and hurt feelings.

To add to her troubles, Sunny has to cope with her well-meaning but intrusive, cookie-baking grandma, who's also a driving menace. A white-knuckled Sunny risks her life (and car) to try and teach grannie enough to pass her driving test.

With a cast of quirky characters, many of whom have something to hide, Sunny works her magic among the denizens of Divinity, hunting a killer before someone else becomes a victim.

Come fall for the charm of this mystery line, and follow Sunny's twisted trail as she follows the clues to uncover a terrible crime. ( )
