Five stars for just the sheer amount of things I want to make from this book. However, I think it's a pretty impractical cookbook for most people. So I wanted to give it four but felt I couldn't since I enjoyed it and have a ton of stuff i want to try to make.

Her method of making a sourdough is extremely wasteful. Recipes are too complex.

A Twist of the Wrist is the title of Nancy Silverton's new cookbook which I received yesterday. The subtitle is: Quick Flavorful Meals With Ingredients From Jars, Cans, Bags and Boxes. I don't know about anyone else but I have been cooking this way my entire life. There is much to be learned from Nancy nonetheless, not the least of which is that there is a new term for takeout - home meal replacement. Who knew. Accompanied by mouth-watering photos, Nancy explains how to use pantry products to produce a restaurant quality meal quickly. She has had help from numerous chefs throughout the book who took some of their recipes and adapted them to the home pantry. We are fortunate to live in a time when packaged products are very high quality. One of my very favorite meals is linguine with tuna and capers. Just cook some linguine, open a can or two of good quality, preferably Italian, tuna in oil, sprinkle on some capers and you have a delicious meal in the time it takes to cook the pasta. Yum.

Nancy's book has inspired me to make Aioli, which I never have. Aioli itself is not difficult or time consuming to make but her version starts with prepared mayo so maybe I will finally get to it.
