This booklet was published as part of a series on the Korean War, but is really a general look at the integration of blacks into the Navy which reached a highpoint during the Korean War. This is the official Navy viewpoint, and includes numerous official photographs of African American barrier breakers as well as a discussion of the Fahy Committee and the Navy's response to the committee's recommendations.

The four years between 1941 and 1945 were years in which the nation raised and trained an air armada and committed it to operations on a scale unknown to that time. With Courage: The U.S. Army Air Forces in World War II retells the story of sacrifice, valor, and achievements in air campaigns against tough determined adversaries. It describes the development of a uniquely American doctrine for the application of air power against an opponent's key industries and centers of national life, a doctrine whose legacy today is the Global Reach - Global Power strategic planning framework of the modern U.S. Air Force. The narrative integrates aspects of strategic intelligence, logistics, technology, and leadership to offer a full yet concise account of the contributions of American air power to victory in that war.

First published in 2000 by the United States Air Force History History and Museums program, this official history deals with the role of the United States Air Force in advising the South Vietnamese Air Force and waging war in South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos from 1968 through 1975. Illustrated with maps and photos.
This volume covers the period from the Tet offensive and the opening of the road to Khe Sanh in 1968 through the final collapse of South Vietnam in 1975. It deals with the role of the Air Force in advising the South Vietnamese Air force and waging war in South Vietnam, Cambodia, and Lao. Until the Test offensive of 1968, the United States hoped to compel North Vietnam, through military operations and negotiation, to call off its war against South Vietnam thus ensuring the survival of an independent South Vietnam. However, the 1973 peace agreement accepted the presence of North Vietnamese forces on territory seized from South Vietnam, and the survival of the Saigon regime depended upon the forbearance of the communist leadership of the willingness of the United States to vigorously response to a new attack. This history includes the so-called Vietnamization of the war, the withdrawal of American force, American and South Vietnamese operations in Cambodia, the South Vietnamese attack in Laos toward Tchepone, the containment of the invading North Vietnamese forces in 1972, the provision of additional aid from the United States, the military impact of the peace settlement, and the successful communist offensive of 1975. It is a very good short read.

This booklet is one of the 25 in the "Marines in World War II Commemorative Series", published by the U.S. Marine Corps. This one is about the 1st Marine Division's (Major General William H. Rupertus commanding) operation on the west coast of New Britain, from December 26, 1943, to May 4, 1944. Cape Gloucester is on the very western tip of the island, which is in General Douglas MacArthur's Southwest Pacific Area and under Lieutenant General Walter Krueger's Sixth U.S. Army.

The maps are generally very good. The first two maps are quite hard to read. There should be a map of the New Britain and New Ireland area. There should be a map to show where they are in reference to Australia and the rest of the world. Although this is a Marine Corps publication, there is even mention of 'Army dog handlers and their animals.' The use of Piper L-4 Cubs and Stinson L-5s are described. There is no table of contents nor any index. There is a good bibliography in Sources, at the end.

Sidebars:
-- Major General William H. Rupertus
-- The Fortress of Rabaul
-- The Jungle Battlefield
-- Rain and Biting Insects
-- An Improvised Air Force (the Piper L-4s and Stinson L-5s)
-- New Weapons in the Division's Arsenal (M-1 Garand rifle and M4 Sherman medium tank)
