This is a nice short book that is about a lot of animals going to a make believe place called the "Hippo Hop". It has a good beat to it as well as nice illustrations with lots of bright colors.

Sometimes they're scuba bunnies, but they also do some snorkeling, which is nice. Good book for a child who wants to be a marine biologist someday. And also a nice antidote to that awful [b:The Runaway Bunny|58922|The Runaway Bunny|Margaret Wise Brown|http://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1348411757s/58922.jpg|2039654], where the mother keeps changing form in order to drag the baby back every time. Here mom just goes on with her life until the adventure is over and the bunnies come in for warm jammies and hot drinks.

Or maybe that's just me that hates Runaway Bunny?

Rhyming text describes the hustle and bustle of people's commutes to work, whether by bus or train, boat or plane. There is a lull afterward as people are at their jobs: building construction, teaching aerobics, delivering mail, answering phones. Then the afternoon commute begins, "traffic creeping homeward bound" until "moms and dads are home at last," reunited with family. Busy, colorful illustrations provide plenty of detail to pore over but also emphasize the big-city hubbub of workaday travel.

I'm a space nerd, so I'd read this book to my students when we were learning about space just to make it funny. This book is about bunnies who set off in a rocket into space. They ended up meeting more bunnies from different planets and had a blast in space! This book gets really into what happens in space but on a kids level.

The Hippo Hop is a story about all the animals of the jungle going down to the Hippo Hop and dancing the night away to some great music with all their animal friends. There is a rhyme pattern that the entire story follows and it makes it for a very fun little read. I think this would be a great book to introduce to students as an early poetry book and get them in the habit of rhyming their words. A nice little book with funky illustrations.

I really liked this story. I loved that it all rhymed. I also liked that it was so far fetched because it really is all about imagination and how far someone can really go with it. I think students would really enjoy this story because I really did.

I really loved this book. The illustrations were so bright and fun. I also really loved that this could be such an interactive book for the class. I can see myself using using this and the class stomping, clapping, and snapping along. I would really love to have this book in my future classroom.

This book talks about bunnies that love to get into rocket ships and go up to space while wearing shiny space suits. When they are there they see tiny bunnies on the ground, different planets, shooting stars and many other things. They work together and make friends with other bunnies that land in space. The book ends by saying that bunnies always make it back home.
Critique (Genre): This is a good example of a science fiction picture book for kids because it takes something that they have connections with (people going to space) and makes it into a fictitious story by having bunnies take the place of astronauts. This is a great way to introduce space and science into the classroom for young students.

Genre: Informational

Review: This book reminded me a little bit of the story "B is for Beaver" in the fact that each page talks about a different symbol, monument, or historical sight that a state is known for. It doesn't go over ever letter of the alphabet or state, but it gives enough to be informational. This story is an informational story because of the tid-bits it gives us about states such as the forests of northern California, Alaskan eagles, the Pacific coast, The Rocky Mountains, etc. It's great for younger elementary to introduce these well known facts and information about different states.

Appropriate for Pre-K through grade 2. Children will love the cute rhyming story and the vivid space illustrations. The story is about some bunnies that travel into space and encounter three-eared bunnies from another planet. They experience a fascinating adventure, yet they make it home in time to tuck into bed. Addresses adventure, friendship, exploration, and home. Use for read aloud and follow-up activities with children.

Summary: A group of bunnies decide that they want to go to outer space. This story follows them on their journey through space and all of the things that they experience. In the end, the bunnies all make it home safe and sound.
Critique:
Genre: This is a good example of a science fiction book because the entire book is set in outer space and the bunnies' adventures there. The author uses space language illustrations to help the readers get a better understanding of what it's all about.
Setting: The setting of this book is in outer space, this adds so much to the story because if it was placed anywhere else the story would not have made sense. The plot develops because of the setting.

A rhyming book about animals getting together to party at the hippo hop. Animals of all sort come together each night to have fun. A great book to teach children about people and animals of all kinds will come together to have fun and celebrate. Also, great to teach about dancing and playing musical instruments.

PreSchool-K-A day at the diner is delightfully presented with rhyming text and colorful illustrations. Hungry patrons and playful children enjoy the friendly atmosphere as cooks prepare burgers and ice-cream sundaes and waiters serve their satisfied-looking clientele. The crowd includes many ethnic groups, male and female diners and workers, as well as a visually disabled man with a guide dog. Although beginning readers would enjoy exploring this book on their own, it is especially suited to reading aloud because of the catchy, short text and clear, lively pictures

This book is a good example of science fiction. In it the bunnies are astronauts and they go up in a rocket to another plant. While there they collect moon dust. They even meet bunnies from other planets. This book includes elements of space and science and so it is a good example of science fiction.

This book has an episodic plot. While in it the bunnies encounter no conflict. It simply tells the story of bunnies who go to space and return back to Earth.

This book is filled with rich and beatiful words and phrases. This book is written for young readers to be encouraged to explore tehir world but always remembering to come home. I would use this book in writing skill (words inspire vivid imagery), exploring, traveling, US. Because of rich language Grades 4+. SDA CAUTION: glossed over reference to Mother Earth, easy to edit ouf the text or change as its read aloud. The language is so beautiful you hardly notice the reference.

This book is a good book to read to any age kids. It teaches the love of a mother for her child and also about different parts of the United States. You could also use this book to illustrate God's love for his children.

This book is absolutely adorable. Love the sunny illustrations, love the storyline, love the rhymes, love how the bunnies go home to their mamas at the end of the day.

My nieces don't love it as much as I do, so I took a star off for that. I will note that if you're reading this book aloud it's probably better for the under-4 set - it's probably too short and simple to really hold the attention of older kids, which is my problem with my nieces. There are very few words per page. For example, one two page spread runs "Start at sunup, work all day, roping cows, tossing hay", and that's the norm for this book.

This is an example of science fiction. It is set around a concpet that these astro bunnies can ride rockets into space. The plot is very dull. It does not catch the reader's attention and make them care.

The theme of this book is the everlasting love a Mother has for her daughter. Each of the poems connects a certain natural part of the United States to how the mother loves her child and what dreams, wishes and advice she has for her. The coves of the Pacific Ocean are like the mother’s promised shelter for her daughter, the New England trees playing dress up with fall leaves are a reminder never to stop playing, and the blowing grasses of the prairie are an example of how one might have to bend or stand strong against the wind depending on the season of life.
This is a fine example of poetry, because it uses symbolic language to express emotions and ideas. The sentences are shorter but paint pictures of the different landscapes found in the United States. These short sections convey a lot of meaning and feeling with each word and phrase used.
