Una lettura veloce e piacevole per una vicenda piuttosto gradevole.

So great to get books from the library at 1 a.m. This is a good middle of the road Harlequin. Sometimes you just need that quick candy bar read. You know what you're going to get and if the writing is well done you're satisfied. This one was a bit different in how the hero reacted to the heroine's pregnancy. Nice satisfying ordinary read.

Fairly decent story. I liked that the heroine at least tried to play hard to get. But I didn't ever really feel the emotions I wanted to. Especially from the hero. What kind of a satisfying romance has the hero falling in love with the heroine in the epilogue?

Very middle of the road secret baby book. Not bad but not great. I didn't enjoy the hero not really remembering the heroine. It did have the element that I like in secret baby books. The heroine had tried to contact the hero but wasn't able to because he was so rich and she couldn't get through his security etc. I like there to be a decent reason for the secret baby.

So readable and enjoyable but probably not ever a reread

I liked this better the second time around. So I'm bumping it up a star. My original review is below. I will just say that this time around I wanted to know more about the first wife. And I liked that the heroine was pragmatic enough to go and live with the hero without marriage or declarations of love because she realized that not doing so was cutting off her nose to spite her face.

Original Review:2014
This book just made me sad. Raise your hand if that's why you read Harleys. I didn't think so. I never felt that the hero loved the heroine. Nearly every time that we are in his POV he is thinking about his dead wife. Very last page in fact at their wedding he has tears in his eyes saying goodbye to his dead wife.

Now I appreciate that he loved his first wife. It makes a nice change from most books where it turns out the first wife whom everyone thinks the hero is still grieving over is really a money grubbing cheating beeatch. But I never felt the love of the hero for our heroine. He doesn't fall in love with her until nearly the end of the book. That all makes the cheating 4 years ago just plain cheating and the heroine was right it could have been anyone that he fell in bed with. He spends too much time blaming her for the whole thing when he never told her he was married in the first place.

I've had some bad luck with HPs lately. Someone recommend a really great one for me please!

Oh the melodrama! Actually this was a pretty well done retelling of Jane Eyre. It had that gothic feel and tone. The middle of the story was the strongest part. The end, since it pretty much had to follow the original storyline, was the weakest. While it worked in the original, it just was a bit too much to have him blinded. That was the one place where following the original storyline didn't work so well. All in all a fun read.

No a likable hero. Heroine a doormat. Some of these HPs the girls make such odd decisions. Odd distasteful scene of o**l sex on first page with another woman. To be fair, I picked this off a list of worst HPs ever just to check out what others felt was bad. Should have just trusted them. :-)

Really just okay. I didn't really like the hero. He pretty much did not respect the heroine throughout most of the book. He believed that she was beneath him and was shocked at himself for wanting her. So while it wasn't horrible, it wasn't great either. Also it was a make over book. She needed a beauty make over before he was really hot for her. Not my favorite trope.

Decent story that kept my interest. But nothing really stood out. It skirted the edge of angsty but wasn't really. It seemed like the story was a bit on the surface. I did like that the heroine was pretty independent though.

Zayed Al Zawba. He is so unbelievably arrogant you are just dying for him to take a great fall.
Unfortunately the heroine, Jane Smith , is in a serious bind and to agree to his 'proposal' will help her out of an otherwise impossible situation.
He thought Jane was going to fit into his plan as she is 'plain Jane' so he can divorce her on the grounds on an unconsummated marriage. But she is more than he bargained for. His attitude is so out of date and chauvinistic, and incredibly insulting he is incredibly dislikeable.
Quite frankly she deserved better.

It's a bit different. She is pregnant and the baby is not the hero's. He supports he and helps her and they grow closer, its an interesting twist to the normal romance.

Crowned for the Prince's Heir by Sharon Kendrick was an enjoyable read.
It was your classic second chance romance and passed an enjoyable couple of hours for me.
Dress designer Lisa Bailey protecting her broken heart ends her liaison with Prince Luciano Leonidas of Mordovia.
A couple years later Luc hankering after the one that got away and on the brink of a politically advantageous marriage with a neighbouring princess has a brief run-in with Lisa which ends less than pleasantly between them.
Fast forward a few months and Luc spots Lisa in the local rags and she's six months pregnant with what is obviously his child.
This is where our story really begins in earnest and I really can't say too much else without revealing all.
What I will say is that though I enjoyed this I wasn't overly fond of the male lead Luc.
I found him a rather selfish arrogant individual at times with a bit of a god complex.
Despite this, I did try to warm up to him as I felt he was probably a product of his cold upbringing.
Raised by a revolving door of palace governess's and nannies is it any wonder he lacked in the emotional department.
I don't feel that he had felt real love until his daughter was born, which is really rather sad.
Lisa was also a product of her early years and had developed a suit of armour to compensate.
It's a wonder these two emotionally stunted individuals managed to eventually pull it together.
I also wanted Lisa to grow a backbone as I felt she gave up her dream of designing much too quickly.
And I didn't feel the bone that was thrown at the end of this made up for this fact.
In conclusion this was an enjoyable easy read but didn't ultimately hold many overall surprises.
So I was provided with an ARC of "Crowned for the Prince's Heir" By Netgalley of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

"3 out of 5 stars. Though from the outside-looking-in Renzo and Darcy look like an odd pairing. And with their backgrounds I would tend to agree. Yet, their connection is intense and undeniable. Though will their connection be enough to overcome everything from their pasts, especially when someone from Darcy’s own past threatens to destroy everything that she holds dear...

Okay, I had a hard time feeling that Darcy and Renzo should be together. I mean, I appreciated their obvious ..."

His chance at happiness disappeared without a trace. Dimitri will find her no matter what it takes. Erin sees no other way to leave the past behind. So she escapes all the heartache and tries to move on with her life. I received an ARC of Claimed for Makarov's baby in exchange for an honest review. There was no surprise factor with this story. It was a concept that has been presented before so I knew what to expect.

The overpowering main character needed to be brought down a peg. I thought it was wonderful that Olivia did not fall at his feet and made him earn her respect and love. Beauty and the Beast had nothing on these two. I received an ARC of The Sheikh's Christmas Conquest by Sharon Kendrick in exchange for an honest review.

Carrying the Greek's Heir is the story of two people trying to make a better life for themselves and their unexpected child. Neither Alek or Brook had the greatest childhood. Alek was raised in loveless marriage by a cruel and unhappy father and Ellie was an illegitimate child whose father would not acknowledge her and mother resented her. Each knows they do not want to repent the same pattern as the parents they had. So when these two broken people cross paths as adults and spend one night together resulting in a pregnancy, they are determined to do what is best for the child. Received an ARC for my honest viewpoint. Sharon Kendrick wrote an emotion filled book that I found quite compelling.

I picked this up because a bunch of us on Twitter were dumbfounded and kind of outraged that a Goodreads reviewer had downgraded the book because the HEA involved an adoption rather than a miracle pregnancy. Sharon Kendrick is a very good writer of categories, but often her books are kind of over the top for me (lots of Sheikhs and extremely alpha males, with concomitant dramatics between the hero and heroine). But this is a lovely, quietly emotional book.

Lexi and Xenon separated after Lexi's second miscarriage, and she has rebuilt her life and is living in a quiet Devon village making silver jewellery. Xenon shows up and basically blackmails her into reuniting as a couple for his sister's new baby's christening. I rolled my eyes at the setup because Lexi was being a classic martyr heroine, but the rest of that trope gets subverted a bit by the end. Her mixture of happiness and pain at sharing in christening is beautifully done, and the enduring bond between Xenon and her is believable. The way they resolved their issues felt authentic to me. The book reminded me of how a category can plumb some deep issues and emotions in a tight word count when the author knows what she's doing, and Kendrick does a masterful job. The epilogue is a bit clunky (lots of time and information are compressed), but that's OK, you believe in how they got there.

"4 out of 5 stars! Two lost souls find each other in an unexpected way and become committed to one another because of an unexpected baby. But will fate be enough to keep them together or will their stubbornness get the better of them both?

Based on the other reviews I read I wasn't sure I would like/appreciate this novel, but I ended up really liking it!! It has an intensity about it that I thoroughly enjoyed."

"For the full book, I give it 3.625 out of 5 stars! Both novels revolve around couples who have broken up in some way, the ladies finding out not long after the break up that their men have then slept with another woman, then months or years later they unintentionally reconnect and being left with a "pleasant surprise" that forces them to rethink about their relationships."

I have not read the first book in this series but that is ok as this book is a stand alone novel. This is another book that I have read recently where I found myself really into the storyline and the characters. Olivia takes the lead as a strong female but don't count Saladin out too quickly as he can dish it right back to Olivia as much as she can hash it out. Their chemistry was undeniable. Plus they kept the story entertaining with their comments. I would not mind being stuck in a cabin in the winter with someone like Saladin. Even though Saladin is rich, he never flatted it and was down to Earth. The Sheikh's Christmas Conquest is a fun, quick, steamy read.

I really didn't buy into this story. The heroine was way too subservient. About halfway I started heavily skimming and rate it 2.5* because I did finish. Sheikh Kaliq wins a horse playing cards with Eleni's father and she refuses to part with the horse she raised.
