- Michael Ferris, originally from St. Joseph, Michigan, started working in his father's music store at the age of 16 and started playing the classical guitar at the age of 17. Having had many wonderful teachers, not only with great talent but also great souls, he moved on to study at the internationally acclaimed Mozarteum University for Music and Applied Arts in Salzburg, Austria (*-Die Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Mozarteum) where he completed his M.A. in Guitar. Michael studied under well-known guitarists Maria Isabel Siewers de Pazur, Joaquin Clerch, Augustin Wiedemann, Ricardo Gallen, and the world-renowned player Eliot Fisk. Michael has also had the opportunity to play for master classes held by leading guitarists, such as David Russell, Alvaro Pierri, and David
Tannenbaum. In doing so, he has not only learned the instrument, but lived out his dreams. To finance his studies, he had not only taught private guitar lessons, set up a teaching program at his father's music store, and given church concerts, but also found another talent; languages. Having started as a private English tutor in Austria, he moved up to teaching language-orientated business programmes at internationally known companies for accredited language institutes. Although his love for
languages led him into the field of translation, he still remains active on the guitar.
After having been published in Classical Guitar Magazine, May 2008, this was the incentive to take writing a step further.
After just coming back from Italy, Michael is currently residing in Vienna, Austria.

A rich asshole joins a mysterious game.
It seems fun from the standpoint of putting together the puzzle pieces of the plot. But the suspense is of the variety that focuses on making the audience uncomfortable; if the protagonist were at all sympathetic, I'd probably hate the movie. And the ending fails miserably in the reasonable-human-behavior department. [spoilers:] They spend the entire movie breaking this man, then in about three seconds he snaps back as if nothing was ever wrong (but he learned a valuable lesson about being a different sort of asshole than he used to be, so good for him). What do you get for the man who has everything? PTSD.

Michael Ferris grew up in Michigan but when he left home to go to school, he went farther than most 18 year olds. He went all the way to Austria in order to go to music school. This memoir tells of some of his experiences living abroad for 12 years now.
Ferris opens his memoir talking about his untraveled younger self and getting to Europe. Once he is there, many of his experiences revolve around cultural misunderstandings (both those made by him and those made by others) and culture shock. Meeting not only Austrians but also people from various other countries in Europe and Africa broadens his horizons and makes him more sensitive to the simple differences that we sometimes misinterpret negatively instead of realizing them for what they are: different expectations and actions dictated by our cultural beliefs, harmless but important to recognize in fostering understanding.
The memoir is very short and made up of not quite fully realized vignettes. Chapter transitions are choppy and I had to double check that I hadn't skipped pages several times as the jumps in time can be disconcerting and unexpected. When Ferris describes cultural traditions unfamiliar to Americans, his tone takes on that of a pedant, which was out of keeping with his more conversational tone elsewhere. And while this was a quick read, it strikes me more as the type of book that's lovely for his family to have but not polished or fleshed out enough for a larger audience. In all fairness, the reviewers at amazon disagree with me entirely and have seen something here that I clearly missed so by all means check their opinions out as well.… (altro)

A l’époque du film, nous sommes en 2004. John Connor vit en marge de la société depuis son adolescence «légèrement perturbée par une tentative d’assassinat ». Skynet, un programme de défense réalisé par l’armée américaine, véritable virus, tente de l’anéantir, lui et sa future femme…
Scènes d’action en cascade, efficacité de la narration, humour évident et autocritique de Scharzy extrêmement bienvenue, cette suite est d’une bonne tenue. Il donne de la profondeur et un écho puissant aux deux précédents Terminator. Les clins d’œil et les références aux deux précédents volets sont nombreux, justes et bien placés.
On jugera de la qualité évidente du film pour son caractère formel soigné, n’hésitant pas à boucler cette première partie de la saga avec une ouverture aussi esthétique que subtile. Le réalisateur Jonatha Mostow offre ainsi un film fidèle à l’esprit Cameron tout en dépassant avec talent le projet du maître.… (altro)
