- Ruth Bjorklund grew up in rural New England where she went hiking, rowing, and sailing. She left New England, traveled, and eventually settle in Seattle, Washington, where she attended the University of Washington, where she earned a bachelor's degree in comparative literature and a masters degree in library and information science. She has been both a children's and young adult librarian, and has written many books on a wide range of subjects, including states and countries, Native Americans, health, endangered animals and contemporary issues such as alternative energy and immigration.
Today Bjorklund lives on Bainbridge Island, a ferry ride away from Seattle. She enjoys kayaking, sailing, camping, and traveling. [from Mongolia, 2017]
