Eric: "This is a quick read with a surprising amount of personal information about Chomsky if that interests you. Class Warfare, like most other volumes that contain interview material between Chomsky and Barsamian, is void of clarifying examples, given context information, or historical accounts. It would not be recommended for the reader just discovering Chomsky. It would be more toward the reader already familiar with Chomsky's philosophy (if one can call it that). Other than this, these interviews concentrate heavily the rapidly expanding class war that is being escalated. The toxic topic of statist and protectionist economic measures geared to sending profit towards the private/corporate institutions while socializing the costs is thoroughly fleshed out. This is helpful, as it is usually a topic alluded to in most of his work but rarely elucidated." - worldcat.org nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
Western societies are divided more clearly than ever before into the haves and the have-nots, the needy and the greedy. In addition, neoliberal doctrines have been reshaped into more effective instruments of oppression and domination. Through a fascinating dialogue with long-time collaborator and fellow activist David Barsamian, Noam Chomsky explores this growing economic and social crisis, arguing that it is now acceptable political discourse to discuss class warfare.Chomsky focuses his customarily critical eye on a range of themes and issues - from Israel to East Timor, from the US federal reserve to women's rights, from transport subsidies to the dangers of devolution - and touches on some of his more personal concerns, such as his teaching, his critics and local labour disputes. Class Warfare is challenging, thought-provoking, illuminating and profound, and a powerful road-map to the emerging global capitalism. Non sono state trovate descrizioni di biblioteche |
