This is the Appalachian version of the well-known Jack and the Bean Stalk. It presents the tale as if told by a southern mountain folktale teller named Aunt Poppyseed. By fr the best part of this is the illustrations ,though the giant and his wife look almost too gorgeous for Appalachian --more European nobility. This contrasts with the illustrations for the complete Jack Tales collection in which te giats look really rustic ( ) This classic story similar to "Jack and the Bean Stalk" has some slightly different text, but altogether the same story line. An enjoyable book to read to children at bedtime or in the classroom. A great example of how things may not seem as they are and how one should not judge something too quickly, because magical things could happen. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
