An early entry in the maddening but delightful Mrs. Bradley series. Two men are dead. Are their deaths connected? Are the deaths both murders? Who profits? Who had a grudge? Amid all these normal murder mystery questions is a lot of information about Morris Dancing, a good deal of Oxford dialect (much easier if one subvocalizes it), pig farming facts, and Mrs. Bradley’s madcap approach to life. I enjoyed this one more than some of Mitchell’s other entries in the series. I am usually a most enthusiastic reader of the Mrs Bradley mysteries. This one is rather disappointing I'm afraid. For a start there is a large amount of Oxfordshire dialect throughout the book and I am not a lover of this at all. Secondly the plot meanders beyond belief to the point where I neither knew nor cared just who the murderer was, only that the thing should come to an end. As always with Gladys Mitchell, there is much to enjoy, but this is about her weakest story to date. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione
