A distress call draws rescuers Sloan McPherson and the Underwater Investigation Unit to a cruise ship off the coast of Fort Lauderdale that's sinking from a mysterious explosion. When it appears to be the work of an ecoterrorist and other ships are threatened, it becomes a race against time. More clues are discovered, and evidence is in danger of being washed away by a coming tropical storm. Sloan grows concerned that key details are being ignored, and a strange lack of urgency by authorities sets off alarms. As the troubling questions compound, Sloan is determined to chase down every lead she has. Her persistence is getting her closer to the truth: that there's something far more troubling at play than the official explanation. It's also putting Sloan on a collision course with an enemy more powerful than she realizes, in a case so complex and deadly it may be impossible to prove. Now cracking the case is a matter of staying one step ahead of someone with every resource imaginable to bury Sloan and everything she knows.… (altro)

Sorry this might be a spoiler****
It's not that I hated this one, police corruption and all that is always great but the matter of them being able to jump from service branch to another at every flip was a bit too far fetched for me. I felt like it went from policing to where is Batman? ( )

Another good entry in this lively and entertaining series as our heroes take on a billionaire mogul. ( )

Andrew Mayne has several successful series, but the Underwater Investigation Unit is becoming my favorite. Sloan McPherson is a dogged investigator who always seems to end up in tight situations but manages to come through in the end. A fun read with just the right touch of Florida craziness.

Thanks to Thomas & Mercer for access to a digital ARC on NetGalley.

He has done it again. All three books in this series are hard to put down. The way the characters are developed makes me want to know more and more. I will be downloading all of the rest of his books later today. This book is well worth the read. Hope there are many more in this series. ( )

1) If you are going to smuggle a bunch of doodads that look like R2D2, then put them in a box labeled R2D2 and call FedEx. 2) if you are going to smuggle something on a ship, put it in the cargo hold so you can wheel it out onto the dock. 3) If you are going to smuggle something on a ship and have it welded into a bulkhead, devise a plan to retrieve it that does not involve blowing up the ship. 4) If you are an author writing a story about producing and transporting something illegal but almost undetectable and you explain exactly how to smuggle the almost undetectable product, provide a plausible reason for smuggling the doodad that makes the product rather than the product itself.

I received a review copy of "Sea Storm" by Andrew Mayne from Thomas and Mercer through NetGalley.com. ( )
