Walker is a prissy, stuck up, rich jerk who has a lot of crap dealt to him. Beckett is a bouncer who saves Walker after getting beat up. Walker is afraid of being hurt again, so he hires Beckett as his bodyguard. Of course more threats come and there is a lot of drama, but Walker and Beckett get closer through it all.

I liked the story, even though I figured out pretty early on part of the mystery of who the bad guy was. Walker’s cockiness and bad attitude was a bit off putting in the beginning, and there was a lot of banter between the two guys that seemed over the top. It did seem weird at times that Walker was such a cocky jerk when he was clearly trying to ignore that part of him and get away from all of the troubles he had in his past. I did like Beckett as a character, though, and I thought he was a good match for Walker. I liked the side characters of Carter, Rusty, and Bertie.

I enjoyed reading this story. It wasn't bad. It had an interesting premise. It's a solid 3.5

Beckett works as the bouncer at his uncle's bar. He has PTSD and was discharged from the military because of it. One night, an entitled little snot walked in and ended up getting the everloving crap beaten out of him. Beckett saved him and got him to the hospital, but figured that he'd never see him again.

Walker is the son of the governor and he just walked out of his apartment after finding his girlfriend and his best friend getting jiggy in his bed. He decides that he's going to go find a bar and get smashed. The one that he finds happens to be Beckett's uncle's bar. After arguing with the bouncer, Walker ends up at the wrong side of someone's fist. When his father suggests that he get a bodyguard so that the guy who beat him up can't come after him again, Walker decides that no one ese will do except for Beckett.

This could be classified as an enemies to lovers, but I don't think it's quite enemies. Walker and Beckett are never enemies, they just annoy the crap out of each other. Overall, I thought the story was good, but, for me, there were a few flow problems, but nothing that was overly distracting, just a couple places that could've used more polishing. ( )
