Figment 2 sticks us in modern day with Figment and Blair (who now goes by Dreamfinder) going through time to land at his old university. However, when he's asked to show how his original machine works, it goes wrong, giving birth to the Doubtfinder. Now Figment must enlist the help of Dreamfinder's Great-Great-Great-Great Niece, Capri, to fix everything and get rid of Doubtfinder for good.

This is less a sequel to the original series and more of a spinoff. This series follows Capri, a young brilliant inventor and dreamer with abilities similar to Dreamfinder's. The tone is very different, it being in modern day and only sticking to the University instead of visiting other dimentions. Blair is only really a character for the beginning of the story and the end. The villain of Doubtfinder isn't really explained and feels like much less of a threat than the villains of the first Figment series. However, that's not to say it wasn't fun to read.

The artwork has improved drastically since the first book. The expressions of the characters are much more vibrant and fun, giving this part of the series a more Saturday Morning Cartoon feel to them. Which, I believe fits perfectly with this series. It was a good direction to go in, even if I felt like Blair should have been more of a part of the story and some of the story felt a bit rushed.

Overall, it was just fun. I just wish the story was a bit longer. ( )
