The story starts with him arriving in southern Mexico where Will has arrived to repossess a sail boat. The boat has been abandoned by the owners. He ends up having to sail out of the harbor at night to avoid the local officials who want a bribe for the exit fees on the boat. He manages to avoid the local officials by sailing out to sea and not following the coast as closely as he would like.
He gets a second contract to repossess a boat as he is moving this north to San Diego that he would have to pick up in Cabo San Lucas. This is a powerful boat used by sport fishermen. The boat is occupied by a Southern California thug is on the run from the law and his fellow mobsters, including his father. The mobster is in the midst of trying to win enough money to buy off the mob hit that is out on him. He has kidnapped the girl friend of the star football player for the Mexican National team.
Will falls for the girl friends sister. The story revolves around Will's efforts to repossess the boat and rescue the girl friend from the mobster. Will is pretty inept at the task and keeps getting into more and more trouble while trying get the boat. (
