The reason why I wanted to read this book was to find out resources and links to homeless people and the outreach centers. Even though this was written a while ago it is very informative and can give you ways to help the homeless but also to help yourself in the event you may become homeless. In this day and age of the 21st century I read of so many foreclosure homes in many States. I hope that more people read this resource if they need it. The hardest part of homeless is the mental illness and addictions that many have and how they could get help to get better. In the event that you come across a homeless person it is wise to drop off food and not money. Keep those items inside your trunk that are nonperishables. I just say a man with a sign saying, Help Me I am Homeless in a small town I went through on 6/172016. This is something I am not use to seeing so the reality is, if I see it, then others see it. I pray that others want to read this book and want to help. © 2016 Jackie Paulson
Homeless Outreach & Housing First Jay S. Levy Loving Healing Press 5145 Pontiac Trail Ann Arbor, MI 48105 9781615991365, $8.95, www.jayslevy.com A home is something all too many take for granted. "Homeless Outreach & Housing First" is a discussion of a program that tries to help the homeless find homes, and get them on the first step to climbing out of their economic hole. With plenty to ponder on the process and its noble goal, "Homeless Outreach & Housing First" is a fine pick that shouldn't be overlooked for community library social issues collections. Levy "This is one of the best guides I have read about working with the underserved and homeless. I wonder why all cities don't put it into place? How we approach our homeless can defi nitely make a diff erence. Sometimes it's not in the techniques, but in the attitude of the case manager." --Carol S.
