Loved this little novella. I finished it in one sitting.
It has a bit of everything (zombies, philosophy, humor, geeky references), and, best of all, it's free. ( )

This book was written for charity. In a matter of days. Days. That alone shows the sheer brilliance that is John Green. Its short, only 50 pages or so, a pretty typical zombie apocalypse novel, but its John Green that makes it different. In only a few short pages John offers a lot of insight as to what makes humans, humans. Questions that people need to think about. That is the kind of thing that intrigues me about apocalypse novels. How people react to desperate situations. In this case, our protagonist is a 16 year old girl names Mia. For a short story you really get a sense of who she is, and what happened to the world. The part that really stuck out for me was the story that Mia's father told her before this all happened. A man named Josef (I think?) Shultz in WWII refused to kill a group of jews in a firing line. He stepped into it with them instead and was shot to death along with them. There was a statue erected in his honor. Mia's father got into an argument with a man in a bar about wether his death meant anything and her father argued that there was a statue of him. The other man said a lot of good a statue does to a dead man. Mia's father said that the statue wasn't for him, it was their to remind people what it means to be human. I kinda loved that. Its things like that the John Green puts into his novels that just makes me love reading, people, everything. ( )

Let me say that I was very satisfied with this book being free, and I really enjoyed it! This book was a really goodread when I really needed it! When I saw the cover I had mixed feelings about it all, and then read it! Anyways, here is my review: I really liked this book because it is set in a time where people are really struggling and life is on its last limb! This book is really crazy with the plot, but it was still wonderful I think everyone should go read it right now! John Green is a wonderful author so if you read one, you should read them all! ( )

My only complaint ------ it was sooo short. Loved everything about this novella and can't wait to get my hands on the second installment. Loved Mia and of course the dog, her sidekick. The ending literally made my jaw drop, I DID NOT see it coming. ( )
