Viola in Reel Life by Adriana Trigiani

Viola in Reel Life is the story of a 14 year old New Yorker placed into an Indiana boarding school while her documentary film maker parents travel in Afghanistan. It's a great story, an easy read, and nothing to make it edgy. There's a boyfriend and there is some G rated kissing (no make-out sessions, just some kissing), but it is completely within the flow of the story, and the book may have been lacking without this aspect. Definitely for girls - it's a girl's boarding school - unlikely a teen boy would appreciate it (or want to carry it around with that title or the book cover).
