~80's Illustrated Children's book, huge hands huge noses

This was an oversized illustrated children's book for probably middle readers. I remember it being long and having a lot of writing, but also having huge intricate illustrations. The story is a bit fuzzy. The characters were human. The man, perhaps a prince, was attracted to the woman because of/although she was different. The difference was hair and eye color (though notably all of the characters where white... I think the difference was white hair or silver hair?). The illustrations were very detailed and fairly life-like, but the characters were drawn to have somewhat abnormally large hands and noses. There may have been something about a mountain, maybe the girl came from a village far away over a mountain? Or he lived at the top of a mountain? And there may have been a massive eagle or other flying creature that carried her.

This was a book I read in either the late 80s or early 90s, in English.

>1 lyriloo: This makes me think of The Farthest-Away Mountain by Lynne Reid Banks. I'm pretty sure the main character, Dakin, is mentioned as having hair/eyes that are the colors you describe. She has to make a journey to the farthest-away mountain and I think she does get an assist from a flying creature...it's been decades since I read it but I think it might be your book.

The huge hands/noses don't ring a bell, but there were a few different illustrated versions.

>2 glaciergoat: Thank you. I don't think this is the one I'm looking for, unfortunately. I wish I could remember more about it!
