Found: Girl and her pet bird

The plot was about a girl who has a raven or a crow that she has to kill in a ritual when she becomes a woman. she escapes and joins a troupe that is going to perform for the king. All people in this world are bonded to an animal when born and are made to stay next to it when they deserve punishment for something. All people are supposed to kill said animal when they get to adulthood (around 13).
The cover has the main girl standing in a green field while wearing a pink/red dress, holding her arm out to her raven/crow so it can land.
Childrens book, read about 2016.
