Found: Man, the Bad Weather Animal

I thought this was the name of a book I read in the 1960s or 1970s but I can't find a trace of it when I search the internet. Maybe it was one chapter in a book or maybe it was an article or essay. It proposed that humans are at their best when conditions are bad. Given the state of the world today, I'd like to read it again. For some reason I associate the name Morris with this book but that could be my overactive imagination. Many thanks in advance for any advice and assistance anyone can give.
