What if LOA mirrors another edition?

Do we combine Novels (LOA #10) with The Custom-House; The Scarlet Letter; The House of the Seven Gables; The Blithedale Romance; The Marble Faun?

If it is the same content (same list of novels), it does not matter if it is LOA or not.
That's why LOA is a Publisher series - there are a few books that exist in different editions.

In thsi case, the LOA volume is : Fanshawe • The Scarlet Letter • The House of the Seven Gables • The Blithedale Romance • The Marble Faun
So these two stay separate -- the LOA has Fanshawe while the other one has The Custom House instead.
Now this one: Five Novels: Fanshawe, The Scarlet Letter, House of the Seven Gables, The Blithedale Romance, and The Marble Faun is a different story.
PS: Not quite sure what Custom House is but I am almost sure it is different from Fanshawe. Someone with more knowledge in the author should be able to clarify.

The Custom-House is the introduction to The Scarlet Letter. I'm not sure why the book mentioned in the OP listed it as a separate novel.

Yeah, I don't get it. The Custom House has always been part of The Scarlet Letter. Fanshawe clinches the deal for LOA. And I would be highly skeptical of the text for the other volume, not to mention the other quality bookmaking features LOA offers.

Having noted the Fanshawe / Custom House difference yesterday evening (and doing some basic, by-no-means-exhaustive clean-up accordingly), I promptly proceeded to PICK THE WRONG ONE! Better in a discussion thread than in reality, I say. (Thank you for catching my gaffe, AnnieMod; it saves me loads of time & trouble on further clean-up!)

Do we accept that LOA's Novels (Fanshawe; The Scarlet Letter; The House of the Seven Gables; The Blithedale Romance; The Marble Faun) and Library of Essential Writers' Five Novels: Fanshawe, The Scarlet Letter, House of the Seven Gables, The Blithedale Romance, and The Marble Faun should be combined?
And do we ditch the Disambiguation Notice line, "This is an omnibus unique to the Library of America; therefore, all CK facts apply to this publication only"?
Apart from chronologies, notes, and similar editorial materials (which may / may not rise to the level of Norton Critical Editions?), I see nothing to suggest the five novel texts are anything but substantially the same, or close enough for cocktail party conversation. Accordingly, I'm inclined toward combining as essentially the same Work, notwithstanding my inordinate love, admiration, and respect for the LOA edition.
All in favor? All opposed?

I'd combine them. Same list of novels - we usually combine them.
They are not even close to a Norton -- think of a Penguin style introductions and so on.
The disambig note is probably since pre-Publisher series days when people were trying to make a LOA series... and books like that were breaking it, :)
