- Each year, the American Library Association records hundreds of attempts by individuals and groups to have books removed from library shelves and classrooms because of what some people consider to be objectionable content.
This LibraryThing catalog (click here to view) contains some of the books that have been challenged and/or banned during the 20th century and up through the first half of 2013. All of the books listed are available in the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus Library's circulating collection.
Banned Books Week: Celebrating the Freedom to Read is observed during the last week of September each year. Banned Books Week celebrates the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one's opinion even if that opinion might be considered unorthodox or unpopular, and stresses the importance of ensuring the availability of those unorthodox or unpopular viewpoints to all who wish to read them. - Informazione su di me
