La mia biblioteca

My library really shows my varied, eclectic tastes. I am tending toward more nonfiction lately.

I've read many of Sue Grafton's mysteries and some mysteries by Brit M. C. Beaton. But I also

like humor, memoirs, historical fiction (like The Girl in the Blue Coat). I belong to a library book

club so they get me to read more fiction and historical fiction or memoir. Humorists like Annabelle

Gurwitch, Nora Ephron, Carl Hiassen with his satires on Florida, are also worthwhile, as are my

nonfiction books as "D. J. Mathews".

Informazione su di me

I got into the "reading" game later than many. My parents did NOT have a library of children's

books or take me to the public library. My first book I read (not for homework) was "Understood

Betsy" by Dorothy Canfield. I also read a "knockoff" version of the Nancy Drew mysteries early on,

in my teens, the "16" magazine for teens as well.

That was a number of years ago. I journal; I journaled about having cancer, and I got into freelance

writing after graduating with a degree in English (B. A. and M. S.). I have written for online and print publications,

like Radford magazine, The Roanoke Times, Blue Ridge Country, doing outdoorsy, travel pieces. I have traveled

to Yellowstone and would "really" like to get an article about that published.

I've had published a few books, "Let's Run OUR Schools Together," "Great American Women in Science and Environment," and am working on an ebook on the environment. And I write on different topics at : https://medium.com/@djmathews
