This is a cute book and it contains the underrecognized stock character "Seahorse Dad."½

Emma helps all her sisters by giving them flowers and then her daddy hedgehog gives her a big kiss. This is almost too cute.½

Zingy's mission is to taste the sweetest flower, and in that sense he is perhaps the purest exemplar of what I love about these Paola Opal books.½

Bitsy is kind of a keener and I can't settle on a good voice for him, so this isn't my favourite in the series, but these books really are very sweet.

Paola Opal's books are so sweet and I wish we had got more of them when Emmett was tiny, though it seems he is still excited about them now! In this one, Perry learns to swim by himself :)

Ollie plays second fiddle to Saffy the giraffe fairly obviously, I suppose, but he is also a cute baby animal who has an adventure with his mom trying to do something for himself and that is a winning formula.

Saffy and Ollie, together at last. And rock is here too!½

This is from one perspective a relatively generic little kids' board book, I suppose, but I like that Saffy is an ornery cuss ("No!" she cries when her mom tries to get the leaf for her), and also it has all Emmett's favourite things (that is, a giraffe--he calls them "Raff!"--the moon, the stars, and a rock). I like it.
