Clarence Mitchell

The author of this book just died this past January, a day after his 102nd birthday. He was a dear friend of mine, one of the original board members of the community college where I worked, a lover of libraries and books, who never had any formal education, but was nevertheless an educated man. I helped him transcribe, edit and publish this collection of reminiscences of his time in Montana during the 1920's when he was a young man. They are not as polished as his [b:River Hill Soliloquy|1759731|River Hill Soliloquy (The Story of An Illinois Farm)|Clarence Mitchell|http://www.goodreads.com/images/nocover-60x80.jpg|1757651], his memoir of owning a farm in northern Illinois, but they are truly authentic, and that makes them remarkable, not to mention that Clarence, or Mitch, as he was affectionately called, was a wonderful story-teller.… (altro)
