By one Amazon reviewer about the 2001 edition
t"his book, economics today- the micro view, took a complex subject and made it very easy to understand, and enjoyable." I quite agree. Just becauswe my edition is almost 40 years old does not make any less useful. Supply and demand curves, the staple of Econocis still is hardly chanted. The exaples, from history are really facinating.

There is a chapter on the "Nixon surcharge", one on Ralph Nader with a very young and ernest photograph of this reformerm a chart showing the dramatic rise in the stock market between 1920 and 1972,

The "sure fire" way to get rich is to start a newsletter on finance for the amateur investor.

And what is hardly chanted ? A chapter entitled "Medical Care for All", a photograph of a sign "We'vegot over 300 good, stead jobs...Today's Army" and a prospectus for Playboy.

Twp very strong features of the book are its cartoons and short (with photographs) biographies of contemporary economics

This book is a series of short chapters on various public issues, like tobacco, trash collection, and electric deregulation in California. It’s all standard market economic theory. For the most part fairly informative and gets one thinking about how incentives work. However, particularly in the case of deregulation of electric utilities in California, the authors wrote their chapter too soon. Though standard market economic theory would still probably explain what happened, their explanation doesn’t take into account the chicanery found to have been used by the energy trading companies like Enron and Dynegy.

Does the job. The disk is as useful as textbook disks can be. The pain! The agony! Economics can be as fun as a poke in the eye with a sharp stick! Who am I kidding, it's been 3 years since I had this course and I have no idea what I learned in it. The cover is pretty, though.
