I found this book rather boring and repetative. I found it difficult to reconcile the actions, attitude, experience, knowledge and wisdom of the main character with the 18 year old she was supposed to be. She may have had to grow up early, but it did not ring true to me at all. Each chapter is essentially another tale of lust with little character development. Towards the back end of the book the author does try to add some, but it came a little too late in the story. I suppose there are only so many ways you can describe sex without cliche, and this book is no exception. I felt like the different characters the call girl had sex with seemed to have very similar dialogue during sex, but then again, maybe everyone in America screams "tear that pussy up!" So, as I say, i found the book rather boring and seemed to skim over some parts looking for something in the story line apart from sex. If i just wanted to read porn, I would have picked up a mag. To me, an erotic novel has to be more than the sum of its parts, and the sex must hold more meaning than simply words on a page. It felt mechanical and sometimes physically impossible, but if all you are after is descriptions of sex then i suppose this book delivers.

I absolutely LOVED this book. It's my first from this author and I am now hooked. The book does have tons of sex but it also has so much more. I found myself emotionally invested in the characters and actually teary eyed at some parts.

I've already finished the next book this weekend and can't wait for the 3rd one.

I didn't read the blurb before I bought it and thought it was Gabriela's book but I was not disappointed at all. I loved the format and the characters. The entire series has been great. Can't wait to read the next one.

This book was amazing and it will definitely stick with me for a long time. The concept behind it was unique and quite frankly, genius. Riya is a young woman doing research for her website. This research isn't normal research though... She puts her body and emotions on the line. Heading to random guys houses and helping them overcome their fears is her goal. Each guy she visits, she leaves better off. She takes into consideration their deepest fantasies and makes them come true.

Let's talk about the guys...

Sean was my favorite. He was the sexy business man with a sexual side. The connection between him and Riya is undeniable and when they left one another my heart broke. He reminded her of her father though and I am sure that played a big part in her fixing him up with his assistant.

Victor was the awkward, shy country boy. He was a true momma's boy and Riya broke him out of his shell. She showed him that his body was just fine and she made him into a confident man.

Joshua brought fun and carefree energy to the book. Reading his chapter was edgy... The whole time I was like oh I shouldn't be into this, but I so am. The Author wrote it so you felt risqué and in the moment.

Lucas was a burley outdoors man. He was a true gentleman and I loved his chapter. Riya helped Lucas and his sons in a huge way.

Ricardo, the sexy police officer and Latin lover was a breath of fresh air. I loved the dancing and how he earned the love of his ex back. Riya really put herself out there for him. She sacrificed her body for him and showed a real care. Not to mention the motorcycle sex was hot!

Max & Micah doted all over Riya. They were kind, compassionate, and amazing lovers. They tended to her wants and needs and treated her like a queen. Let's be real here... Every girl dreams of living this scenario.

Bobby was psycho and strung out. I was glad to see the suspense he brought to the book, but he is one messed up male.

I was surprised and a tad upset by who Riya ended up with... but I do not blame her one bit.

This book took me on a ride of emotions. I laughed, cried, and felt as if I were living in Riya's shoes. I recommend this read to everyone looking for a book with a unique, sexy storyline.

Wow! This book is super-HOT! And I don’t just mean the sex! So we start the story with Demitria in her hotel room with her assistant Claire going through the tabloids on her tablet and reading an article about herself then about the wrestler she is in love with. We then follow a short flashback on Demi life and her career finishing injury and the part that Nikolai plays in taking care of her. Demi then goes to the hotel gym to work out only to find she is working out with the man of her dreams, Nikolai.
She goes back to the hotel room to change for the day. Little does she know that when she goes to the wrestling tryouts her whole life as she knows it will change?
The characters in this book are awesome and you find yourself loving every single one of them. From Demi’s over protective father and brothers to Claire, Demi’s assistant. Every character has an important role to play and I still hope every day that the author will suddenly get the idea to write a series about the characters.
Apart from the couple of auto correct mistakes this book if a super-hot read, I found the writing to be smooth and free of plot holes. She also included Nikolai POV!!!! This is truly fantastic book; my one dislike of the book is that I wish it was longer. Ready to Rumble earns 9 out of 10 from me

Oh my! I absolutely loved this short book. It had me hooked on the edge of my seat for the entire hour and a half it took me to read the book. I felt for the characters I cried with them through the good times and the bad. I will never understand how people can be so cruel but Shayne McClendon does a great job of making you feel as though you are part of the book!

Good Lord, I am exhausted after reading this book! What an emotional ride. More than half the book is fun and lighthearted (mostly) and quite a rags to riches story, and then... BLAM! Emotional wreckage. The rest of the book was hard to get through, and I teared up over and over. Do you know how hard it is to read through tears?

Now, I have to be honest, so I'll say this about the men of the book... STOP SAYING THANK YOU ALL THE TIME! Geez. Ok, already! Also, none of you are real, you know that right? Men don't act like that, at least none I've met. Reminds me of my dilemma with Lori Foster's alphas... they just don't exist in the real world. That doesn't mean I love them less, because OH EM GEE, I need me a Rex!! I was about to put the Nook away and go to bed when I reached the part where Brooke wanders into Rex's shop... an hour and a half later, I was still reading with one eye open, and had to force my tired ass to go to bed!

My favorite part of the entire book is the family interaction. I loved this family, as well as Brooke's friends, especially Sidney. I just wanted to settle in and hang out with them all for a while.

WOO this book was STEAMY!

Ok, that said... What a strange and crazy trip! Riya had more balls than I would ever had, and more fun too, I bet! Though I'm not unhappy with the way the book ended, I was sure hoping it would go a different way. *sigh*

I am really becoming a big fan of Shayne. I like that her books are hot, fun and (at times) heartbreaking all at once.

In the Service of Women by Shayne McClendon
Source: Purchase
Rating: 5/5 stars

NOTE: This story contains explicit sexual scenes and language and is intended for mature audiences only. Do not read this novel if intense sexual situations offend you.

Yep, that warning pretty much covers it!! In the Service of Women is one of the most erotic and intense reads I have encountered in quite some time and it was an excellent read!! The book opens with Sarah, an eighteen year old student with well-above-average intelligence working part-time in a law office. Sarah is, thanks to a horrific childhood, a very mature eighteen year old who has been legally emancipated from her family for several years. Sarah has had to grow up very quickly in order to survive and she has done very well for herself but with the introduction of Vivienne, her fortunes are about to take an incredible leap.

Though she looks and technically is legal on the surface, Vivenne’s real job is as the head of a company that provides high end call girls for women. Recruiting someone as young as Sarah may seem a bit icky but as Sarah so eloquently explains to Vivienne, “I want you to know I’m not a child, either in age or mental capacity. I don’t mean any disrespect but I think you may want to f*&$ me and I’m cool with that. There’s no need to talk me into it.” (Loc. 191) And so begins Sarah’s life as a super-high end call girl.

With each additional chapter we learn more and more about Sarah’s talents in the bedroom and believe you me, they are some fine skills. Each chapter is dedicated to one of her clients (some very surprising!) and their particular needs. Understand, for each and every one of Sarah’s clients, there is a very compelling reason for them to solicit the services of a call girl. For some of the women, the reasons are purely physical and for others the reasons are emotional and highly personal. Though she isn’t required to do so, Sarah not only services her clients’ physical needs but their emotional needs as well. In this way, Sarah becomes even more intimately involved with her clients thus making her one of the most highly successful and requested among Vivienne’s girls. While Sarah very much enjoys the physical aspects of her job, the emotional toll is something even the toughest will eventually bow to and in one extremely dramatic and terrifying moment, Sarah’s life as a call girl ends.

The Bottom Line: Make no mistake, this is a very erotic read and some of the scenes between Sarah and her clients are extremely intense. However, this is not just a naughty read with chapter after chapter of nothing but sex. This is the story of a young but incredibly mature woman who just happens to make her living (at least for a time) as a call girl. Sarah’s personal story is entwined with her job and to separate the two would cause the story to be nothing more than porn with a few chapters dedicated to what goes on outside of Sarah’s job. This is so not the case at all and I found myself as interested in Sarah’s life as I was in her next sexual encounter. McClendon has struck a wonderful balance with this read and for those not put off my lots and lots of sex, I highly recommend this read. I would caution however taking the author’s warning into account – she didn’t put that warning there for no reason.

Being Delightful by Shayne McClendon
Source: Purchase
Rating: 4½/5 stars

** Review and novella contain naughty language and naughty bits. 18 and over only, please  **

“It was funny watching the man you had once contemplated spending the rest of your life with marrying your bitch of a sister.” (loc. 8%) OUCH! Normally I would offer my sincerest condolences to any girl who had to endure such awfulness but Petra is a different kind of girl. Petra is a delightfully bitchy girl who not only owns her bitchiness but isn’t afraid of letting it show. . .most of the time.

On the day of her sister, Ava’s wedding to her ex-fiancé, Petra is expected by all to play the role of burned ex but Petra has other plans. According to her “Fuck everyone who expected me to play the hurt ex-girlfriend. Since I’d caught my former man in my bed with Ava six months ago, I’d seen a side of Kevin I never knew existed. Dodged a fucking bullet there, I though with an inner chuckle.” (loc. 11%) And so Petra continues on, in her head of course, as the wedding continues on. At some point she fakes a smile in one wedding photo, “….ruined two others out of sheer spite, kicked the happy bride in the shin, hissed in her face, and returned to my seat.” (loc. 18%). The only two redeeming qualities about this entire affair is the open bar and the hot guy/best man staring at Petra from across the aisle. Here’s to lots of alcohol and bad judgment, right?

Turns out, the hot guy/best man is Jack, the dirty ex-fiancé’s brother and he is not only super-hot but ridiculously funny and someone Petra just may have to spend the night with. While Petra is not generally into the one night stand thing, she has “….been celibate too long for the general public’s safety….” and furthermore, it was going to be all kinds of awesome when she “…dropped the by-the-way-I-fucked-your-brother bomb at our first family Thanksgiving.” (loc. 24%) Man, I love this girl!! Seriously, she has no internal edit button 

What Petra doesn’t know is that all the time she was wasting on her dirty-ex, Jack has been pining for her. He learned about her through his douchebag brother and while Jack never attempted to move in on his brother’s girl, he knew his dumbass brother would eventually screw up and he would be able to make his move. Jack is absolutely certain Petra is the girl for him and he has one delicious, sex-filled night to prove that to her. Man, oh, man does Jack step up to the plate and seriously, if Jack and Petra were real, I would take that bitch out for that man! 

The bottom line: I literally shook the bed I was laughing so hard while reading this dirty little novella. The plot is fun and quick but the story is really driven by its characters. I adore Petra, her self-confidence, her snarkiness, her humor, and her total honesty that is never tempered by internal editing. Jack is a beautiful man, strong, talented, intelligent, and, completely head over heels for Petra. The two together are a brilliant combination who enjoys one another on every level. If Being Delightful is a representation of Shayne McClendon’s work then I am absolutely certain I will be reading a lot more of work in the very near future!

Favorite passage:
Jack: “Should I perform badly the first time due to an over-abundance of enthusiasm, try to keep me anonymous should you post about it on Facebook. Barring that, mention that though I had the endurance of a fourteen-year-old with a Hustler spread in front of him – plenty of tissues and lotion on hand – I was hung like a horse.”

Petra: “Agreed. I better not have to lie.” (loc. 30%)½

When I started reading this book I thought I knew where it would go. I for sure thought that Daphne had left her husband is the middle of the wilderness to find something better. But that's not what happens. What happens is a shocker! It's heartbreaking to learn what has happen to her for two years before our hero Ryan Wallace finds her barely alive. I was even fine with what happens to her husband but then I learned what exactly happened to him and I just couldn't believe it. I didn't like her husband right away when the story starts. I mean she can't talk during sex! What the hell is that.

"Daphne, you know it breaks my concentration when you talk....It's weird to talk during. Normal people don't do that."

I must not be normal then. So this is why I was okay when I first read what happened to him. Then later I felt bad for him.

You learn that they were attacked and Daphne was held captive for two years! Two years!! Ryan of course is a doctor who takes care of Daphne while she's pretty much in a coma for eight days. Ryan isn't use to being around people because he hasn't been around anyone for four years. Hence the title. I immediately fell for this man. After he hears what all Daphne has gone through and learns further what her poor body as been through he heads out to find those that harmed her.

"We're in the wilds of Alaska. She'll get a different kind of justice."

Ryan and Daphne have both be through terrible situations and this connects them in a way with each other that wouldn't work with anyone else. It's what bond them together. The loving doesn't come until towards the end but there is a reason for it.
