I'm just here for Tina's erotic friend fiction-

Edit, after reading: Very amusing stories and true to each character. I obviously liked Tina's sections the best as she's my fave character on the show. I do feel that all the stories were too short and ended somewhat abruptly-- they seemed to build up to a climax, only to drop the plot line and wrap everything up in a neat bow in the space of one page, so that was kind of disappointing.

I have a confession to make: I STILL haven't watched the tv show. I know, it's bad. Ever since I once got a single issue of the Bob's Burgers comics I've been told (and also I've really been meaning) to watch the series as I've enjoyed the comics.

I've heard that if you love the series, you will also love the comics. I can add to that: even if you haven't seen the series, you can still have a lot of fun with the comics. It contains sort of constant parts (like Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction and Gene's Musicals) together with some more random parts.

Looking forward to the next one!

It's all cool cause the mini stories follow the character's voice and it's pretty accurate but they're not that funny. It clearly doesn't reach the standard that the show got me used to...and I love the show.

Alright I'm gonna stop here with the Bob's Burgers comics, they're not making me continue the series.
Too bad, it could've been awesome.

At the moment of writing, all I know from Bob's Burgers is still coming from the few comics that I read. I know, I will watch the show some time when I have more time.

While featuring the same parts that were in the previous comics, the one page entries were not in every issue this time. And that despite the fact that I liked these best. They also switched the idea a little from Bob's burger ideas to foodtrucks and Linda trying to take a nice family picture. "Louise's Unsolved Mysteries & Curious Curiosities," "Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction," and "Gene's Rhymey Rhymes That Could One Day Be Songs" remain largely the same.

Overall it was enjoyable but not very memorable. I like to read these between other books. One little problem I had with my review copy is that the quality of especially Gene's part was not very good, which made it sometimes hard to read the text. But I'm sure this will be changed in the final version.

I'd never even heard of the series, but I received this short comic book from someone (I honestly don't remember who it was, sorry) when it was a gift from Humble Bundle. And it was a very good gift.

I really enjoyed it. Every family member had his/her own 'sketch' and they were fun. I don't know to what degree it's similar to the series, but after reading this I want to check it out. Especially the one with the musical song was great (since I just love musicals) and I really liked the one 'from' each parent as well. They were very short, but very sweet.

I still haven't seen the show, my apologies, but I read the first issue of Bob's Burgers some time ago when it came with one of the Humble Bundles. Since I quite liked the first one, I thought why not read the rest of volume 1 as well.

Every issue is divided in five parts, one for every family member. They include various takes on fanfiction, an unsolved mystery and a musical as well as my personal favourites: Burger Ideas and 'useful' inventions. Because these are all cramped into each issue, all the stories end up being very short, but entertaining none the less.

I can't compare it to the series, but I do plan to watch it some time.

Bob's Burgers: Well Done by Loren Bouchard compiles numbers 5-8 into a single volume. If you're familiar with the TV show you will enjoy this volume. The parents play a smaller role but the stories can easily be imagined as episodes on TV.

I found fewer laugh out loud moments but many chuckle along moments, which matches how I feel about the show. My guess is that your reaction to the book will likely parallel your usual reaction to the show.

Definitely recommend to fans of the show, though I am not so sure this would make a good introduction to Bob's Burgers if one is unfamiliar.

It's not often that I read comics. In fact, it's probably been at least fifteen years. Not that that matters, because I will happily watch, read, or listen to anything Bob's Burgers-related. That silly cartoon is one of my favorite shows, and the first volume of its comic does not disappoint.

Each character gets their own story, and everything is very true to the show. I particularly enjoyed Tina's Erotic Friend Fictions, mostly because Tina is my favorite character and I've always wondered what she has hidden away in those journals of hers...

The first one may have been the best. I nearly fell out of my bed when I read the following exchange:

"What's your name, stud?"
"Horse Jimmy Jr."

Because of course Tina would write about herself and Jimmy Jr. as horses. Of course.

There's not a lot to say about this one, aside from highly recommending it to any fan of the show.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the free copy.

No está a la altura de la genialidad de la serie.
Aún así, es entretenido.
Me atrevería a decir, sólo para fans.

Previously on 'Read Now' on NetGalley. Thank you, NetGalley!

I guess this comic is for fans of the television show because I don’t get it. I have never seen the show and although I hear it is very good, I thought the comic would be my introduction to Bob’s Burgers but I didn’t find it funny. I guess on paper doesn’t work as well as animation. Will have to see the show and skip the comics.

"It's alive! The Butt is alive!"

(Full disclosure: I received a free e-book for review through NetGalley.)

3.5 stars, rounded up to 4 where necessary.

My husband introduced me to Bob's Burgers right before the start of Season 5, and I promptly binge-watched it on Netflix in all of a week.

There's just so much to love: The burger puns, of course. (SO MANY BURGER PUNS. I may or may not do a Bob's Burgers theme one of these VeganMoFos.) The butts. (SO MANY BUTTS.) In Tina, a complex, fully realized teenage girl who's neither denigrated not mocked for her love of horses, fan fic, boy bands, and (wait for it) butts. (Think of how The Family Guy treats Meg, and then imagine the complete opposite.) The evil, scheming genius that is Louise (voiced by a wonderfully screechy Kristen Schaal). Gene and his burger suit. Linda and her penchant for wine.

If you're a fan of the show, you'll love the comic book; if you're not a fan, you might get a kick out of the weird humor anyway, and then go DVR Bob's Burgers for good measure. (Sunday nights at 7:30 Eastern, yo!) Not only are the comics considered canon, but there's quite a bit of crossover and continuity between the two (exhibit A: Boo-Boo from Boyz 4 Now).

This collection (and I hope there are more!) includes Issues 1-5, each of which has the following features:
* Tina's Erotic Friend Fiction
* Burger of the Day Ideas
* Louise's Unsolved Mysteries and Curious Curiosities
* Letters from Linda
* Gene Belcher Presents

The humor perfectly mirrors that of the show; it's easy to picture any one of these stories turned into a full-length episode (or, in the case of Bob and Linda's smaller contributions, featured as a gag). Just as with the show, I have a pretty strong preference for Tina's Erotic Friend Fic (Battleship Galac-tina, I would watch the crap out of you), Louise's Unsolved Mysteries ("Louise's Legacy," you give me feelings), and Bob's Burger of the Day Ideas (book-inspired burgers for the win!).

The collection also includes a number of issue covers and pin-up art, all of which are hella fun - colorful, visually striking, and just generally in keeping with the aesthetic of the show. All it's missing is Gayle and a new installation of her animal butt art.
