- Prior to Hurricane Katrina my library was about 4000 volumes, a mix of academic and popular and of fiction and non-fiction. Unfortunately paper doesn't do well in water so I lost all of those friends and have been slow to replace them.

- Though my first education was in electrical engineering, I went back in my 30s and did more undergrad in English, history and philosophy, then went to grad school in English. My interests, outside of reading, include animals (live with 2 dogs and 2 cats currently), music, and learning in general. MOOCs have become an important part of my time scheduling.
