For example, Dr. Seuss, Robert Frost, Maya Angelou, and Emily Bronte. What is a better way to get children interested in poetry than to show them poetry by some of the greatest poets to ever live. Features the words and music for twenty-nine traditional Christmas carols, including both sacred songs such as "The Coventry Carol," "Go Tell it On the Mountain," and "Silent Night," and secular favorites such as "Deck the Halls"
Summary: This poem anthology is wonderful for more advanced elementary students. It offers poems in eleven categories and the table of contents makes it very easy to find a poem you are looking for.
Critical Response: The poems in this book are good selections and this book definitely showcases some of the best poems available for young people to look at.
Classroom Connections: This book would work wonderfully when I am teaching a unit on poetry. For morning reading, instead of reading a chapter book I could read several poems a day to my students. I could assign different categories of poems to students and they have to come up and find a poem from that selection.
