Hermine de Graaf (1951–2013)

Hermine de Graaf was born in Winschoten, the Netherlands. She studied Dutch language and literature at the University of Amsterdam and worked as a teacher. She made her debut as a writer in 1984 with Een kaart, niet het gebied (A Map, Not the Territory), a collection of short stories, which won the Geertjan Lubberhuizen Prize for best first fiction. Her novels included De regels van het huis (The Rules of the House, 1988). She died in 2013 at age 62.
