David Gemmell (1948–2006)

Once again, very enjoyable read.

Really like the character Waylander. I picture him as Clint Eastwood.
In the end, nothing particular about this book to make it stand out amongst the other Drenai books.
I am enjoying reading them in publication order with references to both the future and the past in many of the books.

Loved this whole series, the first 4 Gemmell books I've read.
I felt this one was a little behind the other 3. Didn't find Gaise as likable character as the central characters of the other 3 books. Kept wanting more Kaelin Ring in the foreground instead of background.

My first David Gemmell book and absolutely loved it !
It's been many years since I've found myself sitting up in bed until after midnight but this book did this for me.
Characters are well developed, all have their flaws. The enemy are also quite well developed characters and quite likable despite being the bad guys.
I'll be reading the rest of this series and more Gemmell in the future.

I have previously read Gemmell's Rigante series and found them excellent.

Finally got around to starting the Drenai books.
Just so enjoyable.
Easy to read, great characters who all have their own stories and imperfections and all come together.

I know Gemmell has also written books based on Troy, and I can see how this would really suit him. Epic heroes, all larger than life, confronting each other in the middle of battles....
