Dorothy Carter pens a story which we all can relate too. "Bye, Mis Lela" is a sweet book which follows a little girl who has a special babysitter. The babysitter treats her as if she were her own and she loved going to see Mis Lele. Then, Mis Lela dies and the child has many questions about death and what was happening to her babysitter. A very well written story about coping with death of a special person in a child's life.

This is a heart-warming story of a young girl who always went to Mis'Lela's house when her Momma went to work. One day, Mis'Lela passed away and the young girl did not understand. This story helps children understand the death of someone they know, but it also is a story that a lot of children can relate to if they have to go to someone else's house if one or both of their parents are at work.

Mis'Lela cares very much for the little girl, she is almost like a grandmother figure for her. She likes to greet kids while they are on their way to school and the children that live in the block are very respectful. One day, the young girl gets the sad new of Mis'Lela passing away. The young girl keeps Mis'Lela in her heart and when she goes to school and passes by her house she greets her as if she is still there. I though this book was really sweet and sad at the same time. It shows how sometimes you do chose who you view as family.… (altro)

A child "Sugar Plum," gets babysat while her mother works by an older lady, Mis' Lela. They have very fun times together but one day the old lady dies. The child does not give the lady a final goodbye, more like a, I'll see you later. The little girl still waves at the old lady's house when she passes it and believes there is no such thing as a last goodbye.
