Summary: A great true life story of adventure at the turn of the 20th Century used to illustrate lessons of leadership in extreme situations.

Things I liked:

The story: I wasn't familiar with the Shackleton story and found it compelling.

Pictures: Some of the pictures in the book are well chosen and enhance the story.

Things I thought could be improved.

Management lessons: Just point lists of ideas that would have been enhanced by tighter integration with anecdotes from the main story.

Typical business drivel trying to turn an amazing story into corp leadership training. They do the same thing with Sun Tzu all the time. There's really nothing capitalism won't monetize and destroy.

This was required reading for a leadership course and I just don't enjoy being told what to read and when. However, this is a really excellent, inspirational book and I am better for having read it. Very grateful for the experience and I hope to put into practice at least a few of Shakelton's principles. Must read for anyone in or aspiring to be in a leadership role.
