Breve biografia: Christopher Brookmyre writes both science fiction and mystery. In the latter category, he is considered to be a Tartan Noir writer, and whose novels, generally in a crime or police procedural frame, mix comedy, politics, social comment and action with a strong narrative. His science fiction novel, Bedlam, was turned into a video game, which he also wrote.

He and his wife, anaesthetist Dr. Marisa Haetzman,

Black Widow (The Jack Parlabane Thrillers) di Christopher Brookmyre

Listening to the audio version of this, I'd sort of half expected that the multiple viewpoints might be a bit of a problem to keep track of, but the whole thing chopped and changed, moved around, and worked backwards and forwards through the plot elements really well. It kind of felt like a good investigative thriller "show" being played out in front of the listener. All in all, a bit of a high point in a very highly rated series.

One Fine Day In The Middle Of The Night di Christopher Brookmyre

From the backlist, this was the first one of Brookmyre's novels that I read. Absurd, dark, chaotic fun. I imagine it as a John Cusack movie in my head.

All Fun and Games Until Somebody Loses an Eye di Christopher Brookmyre

I picked this up on a trip through Heathrow airport. (At the time, fewer of his books were available in the US, so there was actually some reason there. ) Sometimes books make the best souvenirs. :)

Another fun read. Being a grandmother is no obstacle to kicking butt.
