I'm so excited to start this! The library got it for me - I think they actually bought this one. It looks like there are a couple of embroidery projects to try in here as well as the usual knitting/crochet things.
I was not disappointed. The projects seem evenly divided between knitting, crochet, quilting and embroidery. My favorites were the torii, along with a discussion of every possible way to make a knit stitch (mmm, donuts) and the blackwork project.

This second volume of mathematical crafting ideas has less knitting and more of other things, but a lot of the concepts are symmetry-based.
