Attualmente non vi sono conversazioni su questo libro. ![]() ![]() The good things about the first book are still in operation. This is a fast-paced and enjoyable read. We learn much more about the nature of the threat that hangs over humanity (and several other alien species). There is also an increasingly more important romantic element. You have to understand that, since this is an adventure story, the author can't devote so much space to developing the romance, so it may feel a bit like insta-love. A really solid follow-up to [b:Fortune's Pawn|15790894|Fortune's Pawn (Paradox, #1)|Rachel Bach|https://d202m5krfqbpi5.cloudfront.net/books/1375610325s/15790894.jpg|21512449], even if it does veer towards the metaphysical. Great action, super-cool sounding aliens, and an interesting and satisfying character arc for Devi. My biggest gripe is that both books have ended very abruptly. Not cliff hangery, both books have ended with resolutions for their own particular conflicts but left the overarching conflict as yet to be solved, but just I read what I think is the last sentence of the penultimate chapter, but it turns out it's the last sentence of the ultimate chapter. It's actually better than the first one. She stopped using many of the clichés from the first book and the story is just as good and even more spectacular. Some parts were a bit obvious and I got really tired of hearing about 'her lady' that can take any beating and can get her ass out of any trouble. But I loved the story. So innovative and so alert. nessuna recensione | aggiungi una recensione

Devi Morris has a lot of problems, and not the fun, easy-to-shoot kind either. After a mysterious attack left her short several memories and one partner, she'd determined to keep her head down, do her job, and get on with her life. But even though Devi's not actually looking for it this time, trouble keeps finding her. She sees ghostly creatures no one else can, the inexplicable black stain on her hands keeps getting bigger, and she can't seem to stop getting into compromising situations with a man she's supposed to hate. But when a deadly crisis exposes far more of the truth than she bargained for, Devi discovers there are worse fates than being shot, and sometimes the only people you can trust are the ones who want you dead.
